A Rye IPA collaboration with San Diego’s pioneering Coronado Brewing Company. The pungent and layered blend of Ella, El Dorado, Equinox, and Azacca dry hops coupled with a whirlpool addition of Buddha’s Hand creates an aromatic explosion, ending with a spicy malt caramel backbone.

Pour brown/red liquid with a beutiful off-white head. Fresh citrus and pine aroma. Taste is though rather flat and the hops don’t really come forward. Ok, but nothing more.

Bomber. Poured a moderate to deep brown. Loads of chewy malts blending into a clean rye finish. Had it with a greasy homemade burger and shit was divine

from a bomber into a snifter. Decent malty and rye-spiced aroma. Lots of thick white head and lacing. Mouthfeel is very heavy and slightly sticky. Taste is rye spice and lots of caramel malts. A hodgepodge of hops with no discernable flavor. Eh, wasn’t really good at all.

tmoreau (4505) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2016
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2016 On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. as a 12 oz. serving, dispensed to a Czech-pils glass, displaying a clear & bright, deep walnut/amber hue, with a presentably lingering layer of off white/light tan head foam, and sheeting, web-like lacing. The nose was some caramel sweetness, a bit of toast, light spice, and fruitiness of citrus & pit variety, with subtle hints of candied cherry & tropical scent. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the mouthfeel was clean & smooth, with taste that combined a medium earthy & rind-like bitterness, appropriate alcohol warmth, and some dryness, with the existing aroma notes. Very much appreciated the smooth, balanced approach.

Draft. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Rye malty base, mild fruity hops, and relatively low bitterness for the style. Balanced; not bad.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, caramel, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (orange/grapefruit), with a light note of fruitcake. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Amazingly faint aroma, there’s almost nothing at all there...highly surprising considering the brewery and the freshness. And yeah, my nose is clear and working fine based on another beer I sampled tonight. Other than that, the other aspects are nice...lasting head, nice mouthfeel, and good flavor balance. Shame it smells of nearly nothing.
