Draft, The Bistro, DIPA Festival. Mildly disappointing but not bad. I was more disappointed that neither of the Bear Republic beers at the festival really wowed me. This beer was enjoyable in its own right but a bit overshadowed on the day. 11 has more malt presence than I was expecting. The flavor is mostly a fairly standard pine and grapefruit mix of hop notes. The specialty malt brings some sweetness, but it’s fairly tame. There just wasn’t enough going to stand out from the pack. It’s an amber-colored beer, rather dark for the day, with an off-white head. Good bitter finish. This one is listed at 100+ IBUs, which is significantly higher than I would have guessed.
Tap @ The Bistro’s 2010 10th Annual Double IPA Festival. A cloudy amber color with a slight cardboard flavor. It was smooth. JoeMcPhee (9591) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 16, 2010
Deep amber pour. The nose is sweet and fruity. A touch of soft citrusy fruitiness. Quite tropical but there is also a touch of cattiness on the back. Lingering hop bitterness. Fairly sweet malts on the back as well, but the beer is still plenty hoppy. Pretty solid beer. vtafro (7444) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - JUN 27, 2010
Draft @ Blind Tiger. Amber orange pour with some white head. Pine and sweet fruit aroma. Flavor is resinous pine , some fruity malt, hops and some light warming. Rciesla (5607) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAY 10, 2010
Draft. Pours a honey body with a white head. A malty body with a sweet like fruit character. Overtly malty comes across more like an american style barelywine to me. A dry resinous body with a strong hop toned warming, sweet and hoppy. Alright. Dickinsonbeer (5073) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 5, 2010
Tap at BT> Pours a med amber thin head. Aroma is hoppy, mint, citrus, earth and juicyfruit bubblegum? Flavor is more earth, toffee sweetness, citrus, some light tropical fruity notes, floral light grassy tea, slight phenolic kick, moderate sweetness in the end with a nice raw strong bitterness. Nice overall though- good hoppiness.

Location: Draft at RnH, 4/2/10 TeamTrappist (832) - jericho, New York, USA - APR 13, 2010
Aroma: Nose is mostly fruits, orange, other citrus/tropical fruits, some pine too
Appearance: Pours a caramel color with a small foamy white head
Flavor: Taste is pretty sweet for the style, some bitterness from the citrus/pine hops there too
Palate: Medium-full bodied with a somewhat oily mouthfeel, and a nice drinkability
Overall this is a pretty solid IIPA. It leans sweet, but has a very nice flavor. I liked it, another nice offering from Bear Republic. A nicely made brew.
