A draft pour at the brewpub. I have to wonder if this is the same beer served the prior raters but with more time in the barrel. Because after pouring black with tan head this one had a really big bourbon nose. Along with rich roasted matts dark ripe fruit, and vanilla. Full bodied. Flavor is bourbon, wood, ripe fruit and some vanilla. Finishes with lots of dark ripe and booze. Really good.

Opaque black with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, wood, cocoa, dark fruits, light alcohol. Taste of roast, wood, char, cocoa, dark fruitiness.

On draft. Black pour, with a light tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate, some oak, and notes of coffee. Decent.

New Oak Big Bear Stout [BR Black Bear Stout barrel aged; 8.15] on tap at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Rather minimal barrel adding effects here except for the aroma. Some whisky lingers in the aftertaste. O. Hard to improve upon the excellent regular stout, and this barrel agreed version does that only for the perhsps the moothfeel and the aroma. Given that I love the regular version, I shouldn’t be surprised that this is no better, and maybe not even as good.

This great looking black beer has a whispy white head. Smokey aromas of roasting coffee. A crisp flavor which finishes more cleanly than expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Bear Republic. Pours a dark black color with a bit of head. Roasted malt aroma. Nice subtle oak flavor along with the roasted malt.
