Dark brown foam in a black beer. The hops are at the finish after swallowing. The initial taste is almost a stout.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Dark brownish-black pour with a nice khaki colored thickish head. Aroma has some dairy accents, a touch of spruce, some brief tobacco notes. Flavor has some cigar tobacco notes, hints of dark chocolate, some minty accents, a touch of citrus bitterness. some trailing earthy potting soil in the back end. Nice textured thick mouthfeel. brown, small tan head that leaves a lot of lacing. lots of chocolate, toast, citrus, spruce, caramel, smoke, slight coffee. medium bitter, light sweet, very light sour. medium body, oily feel. really glad to have a black IPA that’s not dominated by amarillo. Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt & earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

One of the better black IPA's, but I really have to be in the mood for it. Smells great, just too much of a bitter aftertaste for me. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 7, 2013
22oz bottle. Dark brown color. Thin khaki head. Couple dots of lace. Bigger body. Lighter, kind of crisp carbonation. Awesome aroma, pretty much exactly what I want from a black IPA. Good bitter dark chocolate, dark roast, nice coffee malt flavors, along with some big earthy, herbal, piney hop. Good moderate to stronger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Awesome black IPA... Good balance of citrus, nutty herbal hop, and roasty herbal chocolate... Def. my kind of black IPA. Assertively hoppy, satisfyingly hoppy. Love it. Dark mahogany pour with a small latte head. More like a hoppy porter than IPA. Loads of burnt caramel, oats, grain, roasted coffee, and chocolate. Mild citrus and pine punch. Meh. kcorum10 (349) - Idaho, USA - JUL 3, 2013
Pours a black color with small, finger size off white head that just sits atop the beer and slowly disappears. Aromas of fresh earthy hops with a slight hint of roasted malt. The flavors are of the opposite. The roasted malt comes to the forefront followed by a slight bitterness that leaves the palate with a barely noticeable stickiness. iggynelix (168) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 1, 2013
Not usually an ipa drinker, but this is a deliciously caramelled black ipa. Slightly hoppy.
