Appearance: Black with a big beige head
Aroma: Roasted malts and grapefruit
Taste: Toasted malts, grapefruit and pine
Nice. Lots of roast in the aroma, more of a IPA in the taste.
Tap at E! Burger. Rating #21. Dark black with a big tan head and great lacing. Roasty and a little piney in the aroma. Flavor had a little roast, light chocolate and a little booze (but in a good way). (2507) Brenhophead (695) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 24, 2012
Squealer. Pours pitch black with a small offwhite head. Aroma has a sweet grapefuit/grassy note and also a hint of coffee bean. Big bitter hit straight up in the flavour from the hops and the bitter espresso backing. I do get some hop flavour although the malt seems to dominate. Very good beer i would love to try it fresh to see how much more hop presence there is. Davros (3187) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 17, 2012
Pours dark brown with a fading head.
Nose shows piny and grapefruit hops. Also some roasted malt.
Flavours are more aggressive with roasty bitterness, sharp pine and grapefruit. Some alcohol shows too.
Too highly carbonated for this kind of beer. chris2431 (241) - Oregon, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Draft @ OBF ’12. Solid BIPA with lighter roasted and chocolate flavors then many of the same style...which I like.

2012 OBF. A decent enough brew but not up to Bear Republic standards in my opinion. Citrus and bitterness throughout but missing the roasted malts and chocolate. Finish is a bit weak. bhensonb (15251) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 27, 2012
Tap at OBF. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Aroma seems resin hoppy. Med + body. Flavor is resin/citrus over very dark malt. It’s definitely bitter and hoppy. Quite tasty. TimE (5827) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 26, 2012
Dark brown color. Lots of spicy hops and roasted malts in the nose. Hoppy mouth with considerable amounts of roastiness. Well balanced. Fun, but serious at the same time. Like so much from BR the beer can be just mediocre or good, but the balance is so well executed that it just makes the ordinary extraordinary. jonno (2763) - JAPAN - MAY 19, 2012
Excellent BIPA. Lovely tropical fruit nose. Good body. Nice balance - much like Racer 5. Chocolate, a little roast and some big citrus flavours. A little bit too astringent for me in the aftertaste, but otherwise top notch. blipp (9306) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Cask. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Citric hoppy aroma with light floral notes and sweet malts. The flavor has citric and flowery hops, light malty sweetness, and some lightly roasted malts. Very easy to drink and very well balanced.
