650ml bottle from BrewDog Glasgow. Almost black, not much head. Fruity pine hop aroma. Tar hop flavour. Not as intense as expected. But still a solid black IPA.

10/18/13. On tap at Proof. Black pour with a small tan head. Boozy aroma, resin, maltiness, some oxidation. Disappointing flavor as well, boozy, resin, dank, oxidation, seems old possibly. Big meh, big disappointment.

Opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Palate is softish with fine carbonation. Creamy dark malt, light roast. Pinch of salt. Nice fresh orange, citrus and marmalade. Whisper of pine. Finishes smooth with a medium bitter linger. Nicely joined up and tasty Black IPA.

Black beer with a bidy that’s more thin like a lager. Small bubbly tan head. The aroma is mealy and malty. Very bitter taste with hints of licorice, alcohol, and burned malts struggling to make it through that bitterness.

Bottle. The look is dark, brownish black in color, and has a cashew colored head. The smell is malt, burnt, hops, pine, and resin. The taste is hops, fruits, pine, burnt, and bitterness.

Bottle at Rustico Alexandria - staff let me have a sample pour of it from an open bottle, pretty nice of them. Poured a nice dark brown, almost black color with a small tan head. Aroma was notes of citrus, floral hops and a touch of nice roast. Flavor was a lot more roasty than I thought based on the aroma, but still pretty well balanced. Nice bitter notes, pretty tasty.

Pint at Ruckus Pizza, Cary. Good aroma. Roasty piney. dark orange brown color. Good bead and lace. Bitter flavor. Medium body creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Pretty tasty. Nice roasty black ipa.

650ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Pours pitch black with a bubbly white head. Aroma of roasty malts, grassy hops, juicy fruitness, licorice and citrus. Taste is smooth, roasty and hoppy with notes of grass, licorice, citrus. Finish is dry, bitter, roasty and fruity with loads of licorice. Quite roasty black IPA, almost feels like an hoppy IS instead. Still very tasty and balanced, though.

22 oz bottle purchased at The Craft Beer Outlet in Philly on June 20, 2013. Brown burgundy, small head. Aroma chocolate and hopped oats, notes of alcohol. Cocoa bitter taste, dry hops, very bitter. Good beer, but don’t drink and race!
