Opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Palate is softish with fine carbonation. Creamy dark malt, light roast. Pinch of salt. Nice fresh orange, citrus and marmalade. Whisper of pine. Finishes smooth with a medium bitter linger. Nicely joined up and tasty Black IPA.

Bottle shared at Sander’s in NYC. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Burnt pine in the nose, some grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor, nice roast, subtle chocolate, pine, earth, ripe citrus, grapefruit. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Modestly resinous to finish, further roast, pine, grapefruit. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, pine, brown sugars, hops, cocoa dusting. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness and subtle roast in the finish. A decent enough CDA but not top draw.

mcberko (17847) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 26, 2013
22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malts and moderate piney hops - not the most aromatic of black IPAs. Flavour brings out a nice balance of piney hops and roasted malt, though the flavours are rather weak and almost muted. The flavours come out more as the beer warms up, but the whole thing is rather underwhelming. Good black IPA, but leaves something to be desired.

Oakes (17685) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 1, 2014
Very dark brown, the aroma has rich molasses malts. Sweet, not a lot of hop save for a little bitterness. A dash of alcohol...good balance, arguably a robust porter.
