Cask. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Citric hoppy aroma with light floral notes and sweet malts. The flavor has citric and flowery hops, light malty sweetness, and some lightly roasted malts. Very easy to drink and very well balanced.

Bottle from Half Time webshop. Pours almost pitch black with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice and orange. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Taste of dark malts, weak roasty and some good piney hops towards the lingering dry bitter finish.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, butterscotch. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich hop bitter, molasses, sweet fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not a great deal of life and lacks the defining black IPA hop character, but a good beer all the same.

Dark heavy brown pour, pretty much black, with a thin light beige sticky head. The nose is odd with something like roasted mushrooms and sauted green bell peppers and an artisanal Italian mushroom sauce. Also a bit roasty, but really it smells like an appetizer at a fine restaurant. Not sure how to feel about that. The flavor is a bit more beery with some dark grains, a bit of roast, and an almost rye-like hoppiness with medium bitterness. Most of the bitter comes from the roast, so the hops are kinda quiet. But overall its not very bitter. Kinda quiet for a California BIPA actually. Semi-sweet and just kinda middle-of-the-road. A good into to the style though. Not scary aggressive.

Bomber to pint (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a dark cola with beige head that dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes solid; hoppy with notes of dark malt and roast. Good on the palate. Good beer.

22oz bomber. As soon as the top was cracked I could smell yummy hops. It pours nice and dark with a full dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pine hops and some citrus hops as well as lighter notes of dark roasted malts and dark chocolate. The taste is right there! Yum. I get a pleasing fairly rich grapefruit like citrus hop flavor and bitterness that rolls into a mix of chocolate malts, dark roasted malts and then just the right amount of burnt malts. It only grows in citrus hop bitterness to midway as resiny pine hops join in and then into the finish the hops sweeten up just a tad to add little bit fuller mouth feel. Darn tasty stuff from one of my favorite breweries.

for some reason, this didnt quite gel with me .. . deep brown .. . mild rickets of foam .. . medium mild roast and burnt grass (not the good kind) .. . a touch soapy on the finish .. . rather mundane .. . . im a dropout cub scout, i cheated on my knots and never carried a first aid kit...

65 cl bottle @ home, bottled 21.05.2013
Instant pine resin -aromas when opening the bottle. Aroma has resin, some vanilla, woody tones and hints of tobacco. Flavour has cocoa, hops, vanilla, and some doughy tones. Also some rye. Feels a bit messy and odd for a BIPA, but nice anyway.
