On tap at Falling Rock in June.
Pours black with small amber head and some lace.
Aroma of floral hops, burnt malts, rich malts.
Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation.
Flavors of dark roasted malts, coffee, carob, dark chocolate. Overall very tasty, full bodied, rich with some bitter notes. Lovely overall.

The flavor mimics the positive aroma. The malt is dark in flavor, but without any burnt elements. I’m reminded of unsweetened cocoa (no milk). The bitterness is more pronounced in the swallow and lasts a while in the aftertaste, but it isn’t overbearing. The body leans to the thin side, but the carbonation is appropriate. Overall, this is an extremely well-crafted, well-balanced beer. It would be very easy to keep drinking this one all afternoon.

Draught. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose was pure IPA to me, as I really only got some great floral elements coming off it. Taste was wear the roasting pleasantly showed up, though the hoppy bitter elements also came through. Smooth and pleasing drink.

650 ml bottle, thanks to me, myself and I. Pours a black colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, salty licorice, resin, caramel and pine. Flavour is very rich with strong floral hoppiness, roastiness, pine needles, spruce, salty licorice, dark chocolate, some coffee and mild herbal notes. Full bodied, slick mouthfeel and very soft carbonation. Long lingering bitter finish with floral bitterness, roastiness and some salt. Excellent balance. Oh my, this is good.

Bomber from Hayduke. We had this together via facebook chat. A big tan head that has large bubbles that does not seem to fall. The beer is almost black with some red highlights. Very stout looking. Some very nice fruit in the aroma along with earth. I wish it were a little bigger. All kinds of hops are tasted. Complex fruit. Pineapple, with citrus. Some spiciness. A hint of chocolate and roasted notes. This beer is beautifully balanced and is a delight to drink. Cocoa comes in late as does some lactic. The feel is nice and smooth and has some richness to it. This is akin to a stout IPA. Good!

Draft. Strong orange citrus aroma with some great juicy mandarin flavors with smoke and ash undertones across the palate. The ash lingers in a way thatvit compliments the bitter oils left on your tongue. This is one of the best black IPAs I’ve had.

Bottle. Pretty much black color, thick brown head. Aroma of pine, spruce, burnt licorice. Taste is bog and roasty burnt espresso with anisette in it, dark unsweetened chocolate. Delicious.

Bottle - black with a large tan coloured head. Appealing aroma of light roasted hops, sweet malt, caramel. Flavour doesn’t disappoint, same elements, plus some balancing hoppy bitterness, citrus and pine, that dominates the finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth - a delight to drink.

Great dark color and beautiful tan head. This beer looked delicious. The beer was a bit sweet and bitter, maybe a bit too bitter in the finish for me.
