Bottled. Black beer, creamy tan head. Fresh, fruity hop nose, some berryish notes, light caramel malts. A hint of bready roastedness. Malty, softly roasted flavor, delicious light caramel, resinous bitterness. Soft, surprisingly light and drinkable. Delicious. JHeath99 (1679) - Warner Robins, Georgia, USA - MAY 11, 2014
Bottle from Carriage Hills. Pours an opaque dark brown with a spotty layer of tan head. Aroma isn’t super strong but had a lot of elements to it. Malt, hops, unsweet tea. Taste has a more pronounced hoppiness with malts alongside. Maybe a pine taste that gives it the hints of unsweet tea? PhillyBeer2112 (2882) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - JUN 5, 2014
I bought a bomber of this as a gift for a friend on his birthday, but of course I couldn’t help but say yes to his offer to share it with me! Black color, smallish head, not as hoppy as I might have expected, nose was dark chocolate and a touch of coffee, some light piney hops. Flavor very similar, malty and smooth with an amazing palate and soft carbonation. Very balanced with citrus/pine hops rounding out the coffee/choc flavors. blipp (9590) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Cask. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Citric hoppy aroma with light floral notes and sweet malts. The flavor has citric and flowery hops, light malty sweetness, and some lightly roasted malts. Very easy to drink and very well balanced. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Tap at E! Burger. Rating #21. Dark black with a big tan head and great lacing. Roasty and a little piney in the aroma. Flavor had a little roast, light chocolate and a little booze (but in a good way). (2507)

Appearance: Black with a big beige head
Aroma: Roasted malts and grapefruit
Taste: Toasted malts, grapefruit and pine
Nice. Lots of roast in the aroma, more of a IPA in the taste.
Spring 2013 release. Bottle. More of a Stout then an IPA. Overtones of dark fruit, subtle rum raisin, roasted malt and chocolate, dominate the nose and palate, with simply an underlying bitter hopping in the finish. It's good, though not what I was expecting with 'IPA' on the label from this hop friendly brewery. An enjoyable dark ale that should of been released early in the winter, and not at the end of spring. Racer X should be the spring seasonal IMO.
