UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Pour BLACK (unsurprisingly) with large and lasting tan head. Aroma is enchanting - Subdued roasted malt, takes a back seat to hop forward citrus and pine. Taste is surprisingly creamy - almost like the beer is masquerading as a stout. Taste is good, if fleeting. Very transient citrus, some pineapple and grapefruit then malty bitterness on the back end. For a guy that doesn’t usually like Black IPA’s due to their roasted malt dominance this was surprisingly enlightening. c0fein (660) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 29, 2013
650ml bottle @ home. Ordered from Ales By Mail. Bottling date 05/20/13. Long lasting sticky foam. Burned cold aroma. Not too toasty black IPA, easier to drink. Yam! suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Black colored pour. Big tan head that slowly falls. Plenty of lacing left behind. Aroma is distinctly hops. But hiding behind it is a ton of malt character. Taste is totally malt with hops following up closely. Tastes like a Scotch ale with hops and more color. Darn good. wyzzywyz22 (2752) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2014
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Drunk on my 40th. Black pour with a generous tan head. Roast and piney hop nose. Similar flavour with some dark fruit, chocolate and citrus notes. All very well poised. A quality example of the style with high drinkability. esox (1226) - Oulu, FINLAND - FEB 8, 2014
Bottled. Black beer, creamy tan head. Fresh, fruity hop nose, some berryish notes, light caramel malts. A hint of bready roastedness. Malty, softly roasted flavor, delicious light caramel, resinous bitterness. Soft, surprisingly light and drinkable. Delicious.

Bottle from Carriage Hills. Pours an opaque dark brown with a spotty layer of tan head. Aroma isn’t super strong but had a lot of elements to it. Malt, hops, unsweet tea. Taste has a more pronounced hoppiness with malts alongside. Maybe a pine taste that gives it the hints of unsweet tea? PhillyBeer2112 (2903) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - JUN 5, 2014
I bought a bomber of this as a gift for a friend on his birthday, but of course I couldn’t help but say yes to his offer to share it with me! Black color, smallish head, not as hoppy as I might have expected, nose was dark chocolate and a touch of coffee, some light piney hops. Flavor very similar, malty and smooth with an amazing palate and soft carbonation. Very balanced with citrus/pine hops rounding out the coffee/choc flavors.
