3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 1pt. 6oz. bomber into a La Fin Du Monde tulip glass.
The color is dark black with slight dark highlights. The head is two fingers of foamy brownish/tan head with some webby lacing left on the glass.
The smell is hoppy at first then has a dark malty aroma that pushes out. There seems to be a fight between which will be first, hops or malt. The aroma seems to be leaning toward the dark malts and gives off a biscuit aroma.
The taste is malty again with that same bready flavor. There is touches of fig and raisin in there as well. Toward the end the malt fades back to give off a citrus hop flavor that was a pleasant surprise. The end comes back with some dark malt but also some bitterness that gives an earthy spin to the flavor.
The feel of this beer is medium bodied with a nice easy drinking feel which is a slight surprise since it is an 8.1% ABV beer. It’s smooth with a nice aftertaste that hangs but does not linger. This beer has been better than I expected.
Draught at Noc Noc. Amber color, mixed with brown, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, mango, resin and a hint of roasted malts. Bitter finish with citrus, hops, resin, peach, grass and a bit of pine. Very nice brew. SirLimpsalot (4551) - SWEDEN - MAR 5, 2016
@ Toronado 16-3-4: trevlig lakritston med en lite besk eftersmak av grape och ananas. gyllenbock (9990) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 5, 2016
On tap at Toronado SF. Black with a small head. Aroma and taste of hops, licorice, grapefruit and light malt. The body was medium as was the bitterness. UV phaleslu (10750) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2016
Draft at the brewpub, served in a flight. Pours a deep opaque brown with a small tan head that settles into a ring and an island of film, leaving lace in the glass. Notes of roasted malts, citrusy and earthy hops, dark chocolate, and tea. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a bitter, malty mouthfeel. Seems a bit old, which is odd. Not bad, otherwise. Draft at source. Nose is moderate in cocoa and citrusy hops. Pour is deep brown with red highlights belabor isnabclash of piney and citrus hop bitterness with roasted grains. Not well balanced at all. Way to bitter and way to clashing.

Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of citrus, coffee and light grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice. JulienHuxley (5964) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 3, 2016
Sample on tap at the brewpub. Opaque black pour with lacy tan foam. Aroma is really roasty, tons of burnt malt, fruity, piney resinous hop. Taste is roasty, acrid burnt grain, lingering resinous finish. Palate is med full bodied with med carbonation. Too much. Fatehunter (2624) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 25, 2016
Pours two fingers of tan head on the darkest brown body. DuffMan (10732) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 13, 2016
The aroma is roasted malt, pine and a little grapefruit.
The taste is nicely pine bitterness throughout with the roasted malt keeping it in check. Great profile.
The texture is smooth.
Bottle, shared with Parksy. Very dark brown, amber highlights. Aroma of brown bread, chocolate, ripe fruits. Roast and caramel, ripe fruity hops, heavy body, moderately bitter finish. Quite malty, but good. hopscotch (11322) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 3, 2016
Bottle... Pours hazy and dark brown with a tan head. The aroma features chocolate, resin and a light splash of alcohol. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor is roasty, burnt, bitter and a touch chocolaty. As this warms, the resiny hop bitterness doesn’t mellow. It stands strong. Burnt, grassy, pine finish.
