rumproasts (5331) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 14, 2017
Tap at Horrocks. Black with small head. Complex stout. Chocolate, coffee, anise and medium cognac. A bit boozy, but flavor to back it up.

commonshawn (1194) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 13, 2017
Tap at Butcher and boar with commonmac. Black with tan head. Nose is super boozy. Taste is dark fruit, tart plum, heavy alcohol. This is an enormous beer. Almost knocks you out. Still good. Very aggressive.

Tap at Butcher and the Boar with commonshawn. Belgian snifter glass. Black as night with a minimal tan head. Nose has elements of dark fruit and a roasty, malty quality. Hint of chocolate. Taste is assertive and in your face. The alcohol is strong in this one. Dark fruit like plums. An almost wine like feel probably coming from the cognac. Slight chocolate characteristic but not overwhelming. Becomes ever so much more approachable as it warms. Mostly sweet...bitterness is at as premium. Maybe a little black licorice at the end. This beer is dangerous...happy to have used Uber tonight. Old Baba Yaga sounds like how I’ll be talking later tonight after consuming this one.

Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, slight caramel and faint cognac. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, oak and subtle cognac. Full bodied, creamy smooth mouthfeel, nicely balanced.

vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - MAR 12, 2016
Draft. Dark pour with tan head. Sweet, vanilla, toffee, oak maybe cognac aromas. Flavors end sweet, vanilla, chocolate and toffee notes, cognac and barrel notes are up front.

phaleslu (10097) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2016
Draft at the brewpub, served in a flight. Pours a deep opaque brown with a small tan ring for a head. Notes of vanilla, molasses, fudge, soy, dark fruits, licorice, oak, and cocoa. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sticky, slightly oxidized mouthfeel. Uneven, and a bit sloppy. But still has some intrigue.

hopdog (12341) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 26, 2016
On tap at the BD in Chalfont. Poured a black color with a small sized tan head. Smells like someone was chewing a popcorn flavored jelly belly jelly bean and blew into my face - lots of buttered popcorn (which was not present in the flavors).
