(on tap at Papago, Scottsdale). Dark amber color with off-white head. Aroma of citrus and resin. The hop aroma is perfect! Taste is bitter with underlying sweetness. Medium bodied with long bitter finish. At first, it seemed to be unbalanced, but it improved as it warmed. I don’t detect the belgian yeast very much, however. arone12 (931) - Maryland, USA - JUN 26, 2010
Smells of blackeberries and raspberries! Got on draught. Has an ambery reddish color. Tastes slightly of fruit with a very hoppy bitter finish. When I hear the name ivan, it reminds me of my boy ivan the terrible. He was quite the russian czar! This tasty, hoppy ale reminds me of ivan and his rule over russia quite vividly Nickls (2555) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUN 25, 2010
(Old BA rate - tap)
Darker copper orange-brown color; thinner slightly off-white head with good retention and some curtainy lacing. Dark grapes; a little vinous; sweetish maltiness; very belgian-esque in the aroma. Candied sugar sweetness; dark fruits; bit yeasty; hint of booze sneaks in. Medium; muted carbonation was a little drawback; sticky. Decent enough, but not great for me as it was a touch too sweet. Overall, not a bad brew, but a little odd HopHeadinAZ (180) - Arizona, USA - JUN 23, 2010
Draft at Taste of Tops: Pours cloudy dark cloudy golden amber with a small white head. The aroma is noticeably Belgian with a spice. Once it’s in your mouth the taste follows the nose but there is a grapefruit note probably driven by the hops with a lingering bitter bite. The mouth feel isn’t as light as I would expect but it seems to be right for the beer. I would call this one of the better Belgian IPA I’ve had. I would definitely drink it again but I wouldn’t seek it out. KAggie97 (3529) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - JUN 17, 2010

Pours an average amber with an aroma of sweet and sour hops and lightly soured strawberry. Flavor is light but assertive grapefruit with a pine/orange juice finish. Oily on the tongue. Fantastic.
Tap @ Hamiltons. Hazy brown colored with a medium sized off white head. Roasted aroma of caramel, chocolate and dried fruits. Roasted flavor of caramel, chocolate and dried fruits with notes of hops. Hoppy finish. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 11, 2010
(draught at Common Table) hazy orange-brown pour with some white bubbles lining the rim of my glass. Nose of honey, cherry, raisins, and citrus hops. Taste of Belgian yeast, cherry, lightly bitter grapefruit esters (not at all offensive!), sweet orange, with a medium oily body. Refreshing! Scouser (351) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 10, 2010
Amber copper colour with a little white head and lacing. Citrus and slight floral aroma. Hoppy bitterness with malty sweetness balance. I kinda think this one is out of style. Not a bad beer, not great, but not bad. djd07 (15293) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 8, 2010
On tap at flying saucer. Pours a clear copper with a small frothy whote head. The aroma is a sweet hop with grapefruit and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter hop bite and nice bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well, a good belgian from Bear Republic. DocLock (10842) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2010
