Draught at Brouwer’s Café, SeattleACHops (1582) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 18, 2012
Amber color, small creamy head. Wonderful aroma of caramel and toffee, sweet, with moderate fruity presence, light cheesy yeast. Also the flavor is impressive, very strong caramel and malt and toffee, with a good body structure, and avoiding the chewy and heavy character of crystal malt; powerful hopping of course, carrying loads of soft resins and fruity character; needless to say, the final is infinite, still balanced.
One of the best, most powerful, fresh Imperial IPAs in a long time.
On tap @ Bottleworks. Pours dark orange with thin head. Aroma is citrus and grapefruit hops. Taste is thick caramel malt, sticky boozy sweetness, with piney hops that linger through the finish to leave a sweet bitter aftertaste. A big beer, no doubt. Though it’s been a whole, this is similar to Racer X. Only shortcoming I could identify is maybe a little more hops up front? The malt profile on this is spot on. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Tap. Pours mostly clear amber with average, creamy white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is grassy and dank hops, caramel and cereal malt, figs, dates, and brown sugar. Flavor is hops forward (medium bitterness) with supporting sweet malt and faint fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation with high warmth. adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - JUN 16, 2012

On tap at Belmont. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A big fruity nose with super sweet candied fruit especially. The flavor is resin, really a triple IPA in many ways, sugary, huge late additions, low bitterness, candied oranges. Very good, smooth. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Tap @ Apex Bar... Poured a copper like orange with an eggy, white head. Nice lacing. Aroma was faint with a dab of hops. Nice palate, mild carbonation and mouthfeel. Earthy, woody, grassy hops. Pine-like and resinous. Some malts provided a honey-like sweetness for balance but also nice fruit esters towards the finish. As it warmed the alcohol became more evident. On draft at Monk’s Cafe. Pour was amber colored, slight faint haze, nice self-sustaining head. Aroma of strong pine, some citrus. Flavor followed over top of a mild biscuit malt. Hops not as strong as the description promised, but a darned nice brew. I think I’m cool with the Double Jack as it is over this. Mouthfeel full, slight stickiness. Tap at Falling Rock. Pours hazy copper with a medium, frothy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is resin, floral, pine, and citrus hops, biscuit and meal malt, and fruity esters (apple, pear). Flavor is moderate hops, heavy bitterness, malt backbone and a dry finish. Full-medium body, moderate carbonation. keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - JUL 8, 2012
