Pours a ruby caramel color. Aroma of tangy grain, caramel. Flavor of deeper caramel, toast, and fruity hops. Finishes with toast and old fruit. Ehhhh... rocbyter (2193) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - JUN 15, 2009
On tap at Mugs in Brooklyn. Mix of malt and hops aroma. Dark amber color almost black with a medium tan head. Hoppy flavor that’s tart and sweet. Magjayran (1379) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2009
A nice light offering. On tap at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee. Reddish brown with a small white head. Noticeable citrus and pine in the aroma with a hint of rose petal. The taste is a bit rosey as well with some light fruit and a piney finish. Neat. JPDIPSO (6317) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 13, 2009
Dark brown with a modest beige head. Initial aromas of peaches and light malt. Flavors initially of light fruit. Some dark cocoa, grapefruit peel and herbal hops. Dark black malt finish and linger. A brown ale with a little twist. bb (9900) - Alamo, California, USA - MAY 8, 2009

Aroma was mostly malt characteristics, chocolate, molassas, roasting, the taste was the slightly muddled flavor you would expext of jumbled malting and hops, the hop flavoring and bittering take over in the finish. Its interesting ,but I would not buy a lot of this Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - APR 17, 2009
On tap at brewpub. Interesting concept on this one, which was to toss together all the hops and malts left over from the year and make a beer out of them. Pours out brown with a moderate tan head. Hoppy pine aroma with a bit of sugar and caramel malt as well. Flavor much the same, but with the hops coming up at the end. Not bad for what it was, interesting concept. illidurit (2356) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 17, 2009
On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Clear brownish copper color with a thick beige head that leaves tons of epic lacing. Aroma is surprisingly hop-centric, with lots of pine, orange zest, and herbal resin. Flavor is also rather hoppy. Herbal with solid bitterness and only a touch of cocoa maltiness. No idea why this would be classified as a brown ale; it’s seriously hoppier than a lot of IPAs. Medium-thin body, nice carbonation, very robust. Good beer. 1FastSTi (3358) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - APR 16, 2009
Tap. Pours to a nice brownish body with a tan head. The beer is a conglomeration of smooth fruits, clean yeasts, light balanced hops. Kind of like a mild. The beer had a surprisingly clean light palate. FirmButtstone (49) - Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA - APR 14, 2009
on tap at bear republic. brown with thin head. smells of coffee amd tastes of dark malts. the problem is the hop bitterness. it ruins the beer. there is just so much bittering that it finishes unpleasant.
