Draft. Burnt copper color with a white head. Grainy malt aroma with some strawberry and lemon notes. Fruity malt flavor with a floral and bitter finish. The taste seems to be a little all over the place but I really like it.

Tap at The Gate. Hazy amber beer with a lovely pale malt aroma. Clean and lightly malty with a very fresh grassy/lemon hop aroma. Zesty and herbal with a soft clean malt base. Really refreshing and very well-constructed. Man... this is a great summer session beer and I really hope we see this in NYC again soon.

On tap at the brewpub in Healdsburg. Light orange-gold with a fine, thin white head. Lots of grain with lager fermentation notes and some mellow spicy hops and mild fruit. Berry fruit and grass in the flavor with background hops bitterness and a lager edge. Light body with good structure and substance.

Tap at BT. Cali Common? Was listed at BT as a czech pils I think which is more what this beer is supposed to be I think. At least it tasted that way. Pours a light slight chill haze- slight deep golden with a thin lasting pure white head- some lace. Aroma is nice and bready- light toast, slight sweetness, and a good czech saaz hop profile. Flavor is crisp clean- doughy, nice fresh pils malt and a nice floral and spicy hop backbone- good bitter and crisp finish. Nice Pils.

On tap at Bear Republic in mid-June. Per Brewmaster Richard Norgrove this is a a hybrid beer fermented at first like an ale then fermented like a lager. Deep golden to light copper color. Pleasant fresh grain and grassy herbal hop nose. Nice mix of pils and subtle toasty caramel/vienna malt flavor followed by notes of bread and fresh herbal hops. Medium bodied, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Very easy drinking and flavorful. Give this a shot if it’s still on.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2008 A tap pour from the Bear Republic Brew Pub in Healdsburg. This came a clear light golden yellow with a good white head and light lacing rings. Nose of malts with some fruit. Mouthfeel crisp and clean with a lager feel. Flavor is of malts and pine hops, with some fruit. Finish is bitter and grassy. Very easy to drink.

A very nice drinkable lager. Pretty timid compared to what else is on the menu. Thanks to another in our party I got to sample this, because otherwise I wouldn’t have taken the plunge. Yellow and bright, somewhat fizzy, aroma of bright lemon, subtle malt backbone, just a easy drinking beer.

PilsnerPeter (3050) - Flushing, New York, USA - DEC 19, 2008
Tap at The Gate: Slightly hazy golden with an off-white ring of head. The aroma has a nice hops presence- grassy American hops with a dry bready malt back. The carbonation is creamy and slightly sticky. There’s some flowery hop notes in the fore flavor, giving way to crackery malt and grainy notes toward the dryish finish. Some mildly spicy American hops linger on the back. A solid session beer.

Draft. Golden-amber beer with a whitish head. Nice hop aroma. Fruity hop flavor with some malt. Medium bodied. Fruity hops linger with malt and some spice.
