Pours a coppery colour with a one- to two-finger beige coloured dense foamy head that retained very well and laced OK. Carbonation low and quite fine. Aroma subtle with sweet malt, floral hops and is slightly roasted. Taste with slight malt sweetness, rye spiciness, a nice bitterness and hints of pine; alcohol well hidden. Medium to light body. Crisp, clean, slightly dry with a long lingering nice bitterness. One to sip and savour.

Cool light clear mahogany pour. Aroma of fresh pine and deli rye. Flavor dry bread and pine hops with a rye finish. Very good use of the rye grains.

Big juicy, somewhat briny, plenty of grapefruit citrus rind, maybe too much body. Big foam that lasts.

Willrunforbeer with a cellar clean out. Two year old bottle that has held up really well. Red/ Amber color thin carbonation. Aroma is rye malt and a solid amount of pine.

The flavor has a great amount of pine with a steady amount of rye backbone. Medium body with a average amount of carbonation still left in it. The texture has turned dry with a lasting bitter pine. Damn this held up really damn well.

Bomber, dated 080613. After this got to be about 4 months old I just kept bypassing it. Time to clear it from my cellar and find out what a 2 year old Hop Rod Rye tastes like. Pours medium amber with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, fruity esters, rye spice and pine. Flavor follows... Caramel, rye spice, pine. This is far better than I expected it to be.

By KJK 05/31/2014 Taste like a brown ale. Fine but nothing special. To much carbonation and cloudy………… - via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour. Lovely dark amber color. Smell pretty weak for a DIPA, can barely pick up the hops and get no rye whatsoever. Taste makes up for this - complex and filled with rye, some hops, and sweeter malt notes after. Delightfully clean finish.
