Draught at Apex, Portland
Hazy golden color, bright, with compact head. Dry IPA, lean pale malt backbone and hopping with plenty of quality, also a bit musky, although there is a light vegetable note in the final.
Very good.

On tap at Kite & Key. Beautiful pale golden color. Tastes more like a DIPA with a slightly malty mouthfeel. The hops (Mosaic and Meridian according to BRs website) make a late appearance but then are substantial at 100 IBUs for this brew. As with other Bear Republic beers, a quality item and one I hope theyll continue with.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. Hop Shovel? I need to know what Hop Shovel is all about.
It pours with a nearly opaque gold body that has copper hues and supports an off white head of foam. Nice looking IPA. Wow, the aroma is bursting with citrus tangelo hops and spicy almost dank hoppiness, yum! The taste is nice and rich and nearly chewy with microscopic hoppiness floating around yielding nearly robust levels of citrus tangelo hops that are firmly bitter but still maintaining some depth and richness linked up to a mild sweet malt bill. The tangelo, dash of juicy mango and slightly spicy notes linger and linger deep into the after taste. Wow this is a deliscout hoppy brew and with a name like Hop Shovel what more can a person want, maybe a fresh keg at home in the frig.

Great west coast style IPA with mosaic and citra hops to give it a good grapefruit nose and floral back end... On tap at the brewpub... Really enjoyed it...

Frothy white foam on a green hued golden body. Ample aroma citric and dank. Melon sweetness. Sweet sharp sugars balance a lightly astringent bitterness. Medium body with evident sugar. Dude, lower bitterness and residual sugar and this beer will shine brighter
