Beer poured a nice rich amber with a luxurious, building, frothy cream colored head that absolutely refused to fade away. It left thick, creamy lacing along the glass, tiny bubbles that defied gravity and simply didn’t break. I really couldn’t ask much more from an IPA’s appearance.. The second glass filled an even bigger, more cheerful head. Noticeable brewer’s yeast floaties, but I had to have the whole bottle!
Smell was good, woodsy and spicy with crisp tones.
Taste equally good; The hops flood the palate with crisp, spicy, bitter flavors that are balanced very well by the sweetness of the malt. I’m not a hop head, but appreciate this style of beer and think that this is an extremely well-rounded, full-bodied example of an IPA. Arnie (274) - Chicagoland, IL, Illinois, USA - JUL 1, 2007
On draught at Emmett’s Brewpub’s new Oswego, IL location. My server had no idea what it was, but it was good. Rich golden-amber color. Thick head. Good hoppy nose. Lots of hops on palate, a strong pale ale. rustbucket0873 (460) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - MAY 4, 2009
the pour is an orangish amber color with, an aroma of hops, and citrus, some floral. The taste is sweet with a floral taste to start, then goes to a bitter hop finish. The palate is smooth and refreshing, but leaves a strong bitterness taste at the back of your mouth. Again, if your a hop head, you probably would like this. I do, would recommend to hardcore hop lovers. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 7, 2002
Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Good flavor. Not as hoppy as American IPA, but hops are definitely in there. Well rounded, smooth y0cola (361) - fremont, California, USA - FEB 11, 2004

The pallet is what stands out on the beer. I get all the piney grassy hops of an ipa, but the pallet is crisp and smooth. Pretty good, nothing exceptional, but an every day ipa fo sho sbrewno (49) - Frankfort, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2004
Hmmm. Rocky, pocky head. Cloudy lacy white to the eye. Does a bear poop in the woods? Not if he had ont of these. Very good IPA. Some citrus. Hops. Bitter. Almost carmel unfiltered feel on the tongue. Very good. Try the Rye, instead, for the $$$.

Had this one on draught in Oswego, Illinois. Clear, medium orange pour with a delightfully thick, foamy white head, nosy and carmelly in the nose with a floral taste throughout, bitter but finishing very alcoholic. Good! trokini (1025) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 22, 2005
A good IPA. Tan and orange color, slight cloudiness, with a citrus and hop aroma. Crisp hoppy and citrus taste and properly bitter. Would have liked a little more hops, but a good IPA, nonetheless. jb (3407) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 16, 2009
On draft at McG’s, I wonder why so few ratings? Not as massive as the prior taste of sly fox, but still a standard IPA. Nice hazy look to this, a bit pale, thick head. Standard grapefruit and pine.
