"an ok offering, subpar for the Bear though. balanced sweet and bicuity malts and light citrus hopping make for a quaffable but ultimately uninteresting brew." Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 11, 2013
In short: A bready, fruity and floral golden APA lacking vivacity.Jow (3979) - New York, New York, USA - APR 3, 2013
How: Tap at Downtown, San Juan, PR.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a persistent small white leaving lots of lacing on the glass.
In long: Nose is dank (very dank) hops, wet flowers laying on a basement floor, citrusy notes, light notes of sweaty socks. Taste has a surprisingly full chewy body, very much like fresh white bread. Then juicy apricots, juicy floral hops, some peaches. Tasted like white bread soaked in some kind of scented fruit juice. I am dumbfounded to see this beer is currently classified as an ESB on ratebeer, very much an APA to me, and not a very good one at that. A disappointing offering from a brewery I usually like. That’s a pint I didn’t need to drink, but it was available so I had no choice but to drink it, I wish someone would invent a way not to drink beer.
Tap at stags head. Chose this pleasant session ale to break up. Y otherwise heavy flight o beer. Pours dusty and a nose of citrus. Tastes of spicy dry hops, some malt, earth, and lightly astringent citrus. Relatively pleasant but a touch watery. Refreshing dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - FEB 13, 2013
Great session beer. Hoppy all over, but light alcohol and very light body. Bear republic packed as much as they could in to this easy drinker, so it’s refreshing while you can slam a bunch of them. Very good. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Pours a hazy pale yellow with a medium white head. Aroma has a sweet fruitiness and yeasty spice. Flavor is very spicy...clove, nutmeg, allspice...with some syrupy fruitiness. Mouthfeel is light/medium with a dry, muddled spice finish. This tastes nothing like and esb ive ever had.

On draft at Lost Dog Cafe.
The beer is golden hued with a small white head. The aroma offers some hops and citrus. Tangy flavor with citrus and a bit of an earthy tone. Grapefruit, biscuits, crackers, grain. Light bodied and thin with moderate carbonation. Overall this was ok.

Dark golden colour. Body is quite thin and watery. The flavour has a very dry bitterness. j12601 (12973) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 21, 2012
On tap at Pacific Standard during our bar crawl through Brooklyn. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Soft malt, toast, light hops on the nose. Medium bodied, spicy malt. A touch empyt. Malt, dry spicy hops, toast. Light hops on the finish. Kind of boring overall. Sammy (12491) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 11, 2012
On tap their Tap Room. Not really an ESB as Cascade and Centennial. Served too cold and overcarbonated. Taste did not come through. It was lacey. brokensail (16599) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 19, 2012
Slightly hazy amber pour with an off-white head. Nose is a bit on the sweet side with some toffee and toasted bread malts. A floral and earthy hop note, surprisingly fruity, and lightly herbal as well. There’s a mild bitterness on the palate, but it’s certainly sweet and malt forward. There’s a lot of toast and toffee. Light herbal hop flavor along with some floral and spicy qualities. A fair amount of sweet fruit throughout, too.
