GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - APR 19, 2009
Draft at Blind Tiger. Poured a hazy dark orange/brown color. The head was sticky, off white, and left some lace behind. Rich aromas of raisin, molasses, fig, and caramel. There was also a whiff of steeping malted barley. Medium to full bodied with moderate bitterness and plenty of alcohol warmth and flavor. Fairly sweet with fig and dark caramel notes. The sugars were tempered somewhat by earthy black tea and bitter citrus rind. Solid barley wine.

Clear caramel orange... Aroma of sticky toffee, caramel, oak, syrup... Flavor is fairly balanced, sticky caramel malts balanced by dry bitter earthy hops, more bitter than your average bw... Decent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the sweetest Barley Wines I have ever had. The appearance is an attractive dark red, more red than usual for this style. The aroma was very sweet, fruity, a slight floral hoppiness. The flavor was sweet, fruity, brown sugar, toffee. The finish was a mix of swet sugar, and bittering hops. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Decent overall.

malrubius (3090) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - JAN 2, 2009
On tap @ Rattle n Hum. Reddish amber with lasting head and lace. Sherry brown sugar alcohol aroma. Very fruity brown sugar port alcohol flavors. Sticky alcohol mouthfeel. Very strong tasting in the alcohol dept and somewhat astingent bitterness. Not as bad as, say, Brooklyn Monster, but still a challenge to drink.

PilsnerPeter (3049) - Flushing, New York, USA - JUL 10, 2010
Tap at Barcade: hazy copper pour with a tan ring of head. Caramelly faded hop aroma. Twiggy with a crystal malt note. A touch of spearmint. Mild carbonation with a ton of crystal malt and faded minty hops. Slightly oxidized.

3.3
pilsnerrogge (3024) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUN 5, 2009
On tap @ The Ginger Man, NYC:
Deep hazy amber, small-ish head. Sweet raisin and hop aroma. More sweet raisins in the flavour followed by a long hops and alcohol bitterness.
