Hazy red/brown and creamy. Caramel/toffee hints of fruit (deep and darkish) Quite toasty and savoury though. Very big booziness with kicks of liquorice very rich treacly flavours. Amazing burnt sugar finish. Still. A great snifter. Enniskillen (2051) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 25, 2006

Tap at Jernigan’s a few weeks ago. Nice fruit malt nose, hint of booze. Straw and elements of bread with a boozy apple on the flavor. Little thin but good. wetherel (1882) - Cupertino, California, USA - DEC 6, 2008
On tap the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Amber color. Very oaky aroma. Some tartness. No oxidation. OK. LtDan (1806) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - DEC 7, 2008
English snow taffey and apricot in the nose. Bright auburn with no head. Flavor had resinous hops, tart unripe peaches and boose. A bit heavy and not impressive.

this is a perfect looking beer as far as im concerned.murky red body with a lovely looking head.as the head sat it left a thick wall of lacing.a little light on the aroma but the flavor was a mix of chocolate, malts, and cherries.very nice stuff indeed. 21iceman40 (1735) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 12, 2003
Alcohol, bleach and vinegar combine to form the potent aroma in this one. In addition it also smells like chocolate chips straight out tha bag. A burnt orange hue with little if any head. Tastes like a combination of chocolate chips, licorice, alcohol and raisons. ACHops (1582) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 17, 2015
On tap @ Bear Republic. Pours dark amber copper with very thin white head. Aroma is sweet boozy malt; raisins, port, and oak on the back. Taste is big heavy caramel malt, dry and oaky on the finish. Bitterness is restrained and easy drinking relative to the big abv here. bth122 (1554) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2014
Draft at Brass Rail. Honey color. Not as much aroma as I was hoping for. Light fruit, caramel. Light sweetness. Creamy texture. Some warming alcohol. Nice balance of malts and hops. Would get again.

On tap at brewpub. Pours out a dark red-brown color, more red than your typical bw with a thick off-white head. Sweet aroma of fruit and floral hops and caramel malt. Flavor very sweet and full of brown sugar, caramel, toffee and citrus, floral and pine notes. Not the typical beer for the style, but I very much enjoyed it all the same. Very refreshing.
