On tap at the 2003 Toronado Barleywine Festival: Huge malt aroma and flavor. Firm bitterness. Very nice head. Wonderful beer. arjoseph (642) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 13, 2005
Bottle into pint glass, courtesy of Dr. Bill at the Real Ale Festival, 2005. 1999 vintage. Smells malty, with brown sugar, musty raisin, a bit of orange rind and spruce (a very little bit, but noticable). Cloudy orange in the glass. Full bodied and smooth, this was incredibly balanced. Prune and raisins up front with a good level of sweetness that stays understated but complements the malty fruit well and helps balance the chewy dry hops prick with woody tannins in the finish. There was great brown sugar infused acidity on the swallow, like a blossom of flavor to provide a direct and immediate contrast to the dry bitter finish. Great beer; so great, in fact, that I don’t feel silly using the phrase "blossom of flavor." Yeah. That good. Odeed (1805) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 19, 2006
this is a perfect looking beer as far as im concerned.murky red body with a lovely looking head.as the head sat it left a thick wall of lacing.a little light on the aroma but the flavor was a mix of chocolate, malts, and cherries.very nice stuff indeed. magdalar (516) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - DEC 31, 2011
Draught. Pours a cloudy amber with a white head. Smells of citrus and prunes with plenty of hops. Tastes a heavy sweetness with a medium bitter and floral notes with a creamy texture and a bitter finish. IrishBoy (4228) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 28, 2006

Tap at BT. The owner- Richard was telling me that the last time this was brewed was about 6 years ago. I had a hard time believing that since it tasted pretty damn fresh with 0 oxidation factor. Still this was a fantastic BW. Pours a hazy medium amber and a tight thin foamy lasting head. Aroma is fruity up front- lots of esters, raisin, pear, with good full sweet thick caramel toffee malts- and even a nice fresh hop spicy and fruity tone. Flavor is big upfront with tons of thick sweet doughy caramel, toffee, light molasses and thickened brown sugar- some honey as well- good fruit presence and a nice hoppy flavor and aftertaste. Overall just a great well made barleywine. kryon (3808) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUL 31, 2013

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent copper with a white head. Aroma is fruit/spice. Full bodied. Flavor is amazing. Fruit. Decent caramel. Light vanilla. Hints of spice. Heat is barely detectable. It is lightly sweet. It is very flavorful. Everything is well blended - hard to dissect. Lovely. jazz88 (2683) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 19, 2005
