UPDATED: DEC 6, 2006 22 oz bottle, shared with StompBrockmore - pours hazy gold with a lot of tiny sediment particles floating around in the glass, giving the beer its haziness, though I was told that I was crazy. Well, maybe I am. Huge head very atypical of the style - seemed like it belonged on a stout or a trappist - rocky, foamy, delicious. Aroma fairly standard for an American IPA - but standards in that realm are quite high, so it follows that this is too. Fresh piney/grapefruity notes and some floral accents as well, which made it seem soft and welcoming. And then the taste which was much the same, but with a nice malt backbone to keep everything in check. Very easy to drink and I wish I had more, but cest la vie. Neat clean finish, with a touch of bitterness, but not crazy or anything, OK? Wow, touchy.....Its just grand - I loved it!

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2007 22oz bottle, shared with VeloVampire - pours a hazy, cloudy orange with a nice big white head. Actually, the head on this was amazing! I dont think Ive ever seen such a foamy, rocky head on an IPA before. Great stuff! The aroma is typical of American IPAs, but very clean and inviting - flowery, piney, with lots of citrus in the nose. Flavour is equally clean; obviously lots of hops in here, but no harsh bitterness; instead this is clean and smooth all the way through. The bitterness that comes through at the end is perfect. Very nice! I could certainly get used to this and drink a lot of it. Quite well balanced from top to bottom, grapefruity and full of hop flavour. I wish Ontario brewers would do something like this! A great IPA.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom, Charlottesville, July 2006. Hazy amber colour. Typical US IPA with a distinctly flowery aroma and plenty of hoppy, pine and grapefruit character in the flavour. Fair belt of alcohol. For me, at least, it didnt stand out from the crowd to any great extent but hit the spot very nicely indeed.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2008 Golden pour with sizable foamy head. Sweet and floral/citrus hop aroma that is very inviting. Smooth, sweet and chewy. Sweet with pleasant floral/pine taste; very nice malt backbone - this is a very tasty and well balanced IPA. Rare that you find a regular IPA with this type of flavor and feel - really like a good Double/Imperial IPA. If you arent into the rich maltiness that goes with the big hops of the Imperials, this may not be for you - but if you are, youre gonna like this one!

Intense hop aroma of grassy, and citrus floral aromas. Medium reddish slight haze due to fact it was on tap. High american hop flavor, some caramel and very very slightly sweet but hops kept that at bay

Bomber. Pours a clear coppery amber with a lacy white head. Aromas of pine, pineapple and grapefruit. The taste has all the same elements. This is a great IPA. I tried this right after a great IIPA, (Great Divide Hercules) and this beer really holds its own.

[bottle] Slightly hazy, orange color. Head is pretty coarse, and doesnt seem to last long. Pure grapefruit aroma. Nice, floral citrus and piney hop flavors. Kind of malty/sweet initially, then the bitterness comes through. Dry finish. Quite tasty.
