Draft at Tyler’s in Durham. A bit boozy in the aroma but it’s not bad. Lots of pine and citrus in this one and a sweet malty finish. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. Must try. emacgee (4698) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - APR 19, 2009
Draught at Flying Saucer with JCB and Immy. Pours a translucent copper orange with a one finger yellowish head. The nose is fruity, citrusy, pungent hop aroma, mild sweetness. Flavor is very resinous and hoppy, fruity, citrus peel. I enjoyed this more the first half of the pint than the second. After a while it started to get a mild astringency to it that I didn’t care for. Overall I really enjoyed the brew. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 18, 2009
Draught at Tylers with JCB. This basically tastes like Racer 5 on steroids. Kind of basic--pine and citrus dominate, and the alcohol stands out a little more than it needs to. Felt a little heavy for me. roborb (66) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - APR 11, 2009
On tap at the Flying Saucer, Raleigh, this beer poured a nice copper color. There was a 1 1/2 finger white head that lasted for a long time. The aroma was dominated by pine and citrus. I was expecting this beer to be very bitter but it was not. There was a substainial malt backbone that helped blanace the beer very well. The carbonation was just right to make this beer go down easy. This is a fantastic IIPA and should be had when you can find it. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 10, 2009
On tap at Tyler’s, Carrboro, in the company of the powerful Turdferguson. Okay, NC is officially spoiled with shit like this on tap all over the place. Not only that, but the Big Black song dedicated to this enigmatic cartoon character is a good one to get stuck in your head. So it’s got the same pleasantly floral aroma as the Racer 5, but a somewhat more vibrant body and a stickier taste. Sweet in the way that Hop Stoopid is, but the full mouthfeel prevents anything from becoming cloying. Lively hops, abundant flavors, killer DIPA.

Crazy hops, of course, and a wonderful copper color. A little sweet for my taste, more east coast than west coast. Still quite delicious, although not as good for the style as Racer 5 is. WesKBob (563) - Bethany, Oklahoma, USA - APR 4, 2009
Pours a medium amber color. Thin white head with decent retention and lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and floral hops. Flavor is similar--a little sweeter than you would expect from many IPAs, but it works in this case. Lots of grapefruit and piney hops. Nice clean finish. Very well balanced and a nice beer. malrubius (2961) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - JAN 18, 2009
On tap at The Gate. Golden copper orange (it was dark in there) with lasting head (which I asked for) and lotsa lace. Very hoppy citrus piney aroma. NIcely toasted malty flavor with lots of fresh hops flower flavor and bitterness with nice hoppy finish. Medium-full body. The flavors all come together nicely. Excellent. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 14, 2009
(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of pine, florals, grass, and orange peel. Flavor of hops (citrus, pine) and caramel malt. stchloe (1104) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 6, 2009
Still bitter like its IPA cousin, but more alcohol notes, as seen by the ABV. Fruity and sweet.
