Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Good one. Piney and floral aroma. Amber ginger ale color with little head as it was on tap. Nice carbonation but smooth. There is a hop punch throughout the whole thing. Floral and distinct, some citrus but not the predominant flavor. Nice malt backbone to balance this one out. Great representation of the style and distinct enough to remember.

Mostly clean (slight haze) burnt orange to rich copper color with a root beer float head of dense French vanilla colored foam. Grapefruit and festive citrus counter a muscled caramel malt base. A whiff of pine cone and deep Forrest camping mornings.

Stellar berr. Great consistent hop throughout with a little sweetness. Yet goes down quickly.

Gold. Short froth. Aroma is malty caramel and predominitley piney. Bought off room temp shelf so low hop aroma. Floral and citrus maybe. Resinous pine in taste with citrus and candy malts with a cherry slight booziness. big double ipa taste. strong bitter good malt taste, classic double ipa.

Black Duck, Issaquah. Lacing off white head, rich dark orange. Classic big resinous west coast ipa. Nice to get back to the classics. Some piney hop oil, fruity orange nose. Smooth, full body. Quite solid.

22oz: Copper color. Great head and lace. Huge aromatic lift. Gwerz like. Spice, floral, musk, Turkish delete. Intense but bright. Big rich balata. Balanced bitterness. Hops lead but malt plays a strong part. This is an awesome beer. One of my favorites at the moment.

MadRobin (2989) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - JAN 27, 2017
Poured from 22 oz. bottle. Lightly hazy, golden orange with a 3-finger, billowing off-white head and excellent lacing. A real looker, this one. Aroma of pine, citrus, tropical and other fruit and sweet bready malt. Taste of nectarine, pine, tropical fruit, citrus and sweet malt. A medium/full body and medium/high carbonation yields a smooth, rich mouthfeel. Maybe it's all that sweet malt, but the bitterness doesn't smack you in the face. There is plenty of hop flavor, but it's well balanced. Impressive for a 100 IBU brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap pour at Muddy Waters with blonderedhead. Tulip style glass...10oz pour. Slight hazy orange and golden color. Attractive white half finger head. Great lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus with orange and tropical notes. Some pine characteristics. Taste is downright breathtaking. Big and bold hop flavors with a lean towards resin and tropical fruit. The presence of alcohol is definitely felt but is almost deceptive in its potency. There is a pleasant malty, earthy quality that helps provide exquisite balance. An impressive older brother to Racer 5. Check this one out when available.
