A: A clear copper color with a fluffy off-white foam that sits atop. S: A very fruity, tropical hop aroma. Lots of mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and pine. There is also a fairly sweet, caramel aroma. T: Very much like the nose, the taste has a wonderful fruity hop flavor with a fair amount of bitterness, but not harsh by any means. The sweet malt is there, but not a big player. M: For an IPA, Racer X is quite full bodied. There is a high level of carbonation which keeps it refreshing and prevents it from feeling too syrupy on the tongue. D: Despite the high alcohol content, you don’t really notice the booze. A very nice balance of hop bitterness, fruitiness, and malt.

Dogbrick (14309) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 21, 2008
On draught at Callahan’s in San Diego. This brew is a clear and lustrous bronze color with a medium beige head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of piney, resinous hops and grapefruit along with notes of sweet malt. Medium-bodied with an assertively hopped character that is balanced well by sweet grainy malt. Touches of caramel are present, and the alcohol slips in every once in awhile too. The finish is bitter with a lingering piney hops flavor. Good all around.
