"nice surprise here! this is what you get when you replace much of the wheat in a hefe with rye. awesome spicy complexity added to a good hefe. great stuff!"

Amber in color, slight haze with a thick head. Lots of rye aroma and flavor. Banana and clove notes this is a very interestingly good beer.
On tap at Rattle’n’Hum. Lightly sour-sweet - I thought there might be some buckwheat in it, but this seems to be an unfiltered rye ale. Not strong, but tasty enough, and has a fresh aroma. Lagunitasfan (1323) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Hanging with JoeT at the brewery on Aug 9, 2011 for my birthday. I was more focused on the company than the notes, but these’ll do until I get back there this summer and do it right. Sharp pilsen style. Not much there. Light with clean finish. Just OK. DialSquare (4981) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Note from N.California trip: from a sampler at the brewery in healdsburg. pale malt aroma, banana, belgian yeast, clove, good. 7.2

Draft. Very murky golden amber beer with a whitish head. Tons of yeast in glass. Earthy and light spice aroma with light banana. Lemon and earthy flavor with spice and light banana. Medium bodied. Lemon and earthiness lingers with spice and light banana. jredmond (8204) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 13, 2011
Draft at RnH with Linh. Pours a golden body with nice white lacing. Aroma is light and flowery. Mouthfeel is thin and light with herbal notes of tea, flowers, and clove. hayduke (5188) - Eureka, California, USA - MAR 11, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2012 From a draft pour at the Bear Republic brewpub in Healdsburg, CA. Poured slightly cloudy amber with an off-white head and moderate lacing . Slightly hazy amber pour. The nose is munch like a hefeweizen with banana and clove and some rye Medium body and a somewhat watery mouthfeel. The flavor is a mixture of rye and banana but overall a bit odd tasting. OK as a session beer, but nothing like the Double Rocket another Rye beer from Bear Republic.
Update. At the Local Beer Bar in Eureka, CA. Seems somewhat improved from lat year. BrewBoxer (2632) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Tap at rnh. Oka. Rye malty and mildy peppery. Nothing to write home about, but easy to drink Sammy (12099) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 6, 2011
Enjoyed on tap at Rattle ’N’ Hum. Medium yellow colour. Sharp apple is how the taste comes off. Average mouthfeel, not very drinkable
