UPDATED: NOV 20, 2010 Sample at Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. This brew is a copper-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of sour fruit, yeast and oak. Medium body with flavors of tart fruit, yeast, oak and malt. The finish is a little funky with a sour fruity aftertaste. Good beer all around. Moggman (235) - Columbus, USA - SEP 14, 2010
Sample at Jackie O’s Barrel Aged Beer Fest 2010. Pours hazy amber/red with off-white head. Aroma is very sour with some fruity notes. Flavor is sour (but not overly so), with some caramel, and cherry notes as well as some hop bitterness. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - SEP 13, 2010
Sample during Jackie O’s BBDA and Oil of Aphrodite Release and Barrel aged Beer Festival on 9/11/10. Clear copper pour with a medium off-white head. Tart cherry nose with vinegar notes. Crazy sour nose, which is not what I expected out of Bear Republic. Flavor is sour vinegar with some cherries and the bitter hop finish that we all know and love from the regular version of Crazy Ivan. Very nicely done. deyholla (11600) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 12, 2010
On tap at Jackie O’s during the Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Poured a cloudy amber with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a good amount of funk accompanied by some sour fruit and a bit of a wine note. Flavor had a building sour fruit note with some funk and a nice vinous wine backing.

On tap at Jackie O’s. Pours murky rose red color with white head. Aroma is acidic, tart, fruity, and funky. Lively carbonated. Flavors are upfront very fruity, tart, but not overly tart, and finishes with a touch of brett. Real nice and glad I got to try it. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 10, 2010
Snifter pour at Jackie o’s ... Pours a dark toffee caramel brown with a thin soapy light beige head... Aroma of pineapple tropical fruits
and a mild bretty funk... Flavors are bretty mild tart with some pineapple fruitiness. Sweetness through the middle. Nice all around brettiness to this ale.

Tap at BGH. This is one of those beers that, every step closer to your face it gets it gets worse and worse. Cloudy dark brown/ruby pour. The aroma is bearably, spicy with a big acedic acid kick. A bit of clementine, tangerine. Medium body. The flavor though, whoa. I did a double take. I thought my brain went haywire for a minute. But no, every sip reveals the same thing: an acrid, solventy, pure chemical and rubbing alcohol flavor that is absolutely unbearable. I’m surprised I didn’t have to call poison control after drinking this. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 15, 2010
Tap @ Belmont Station during Puckerfest... A sweet, slightly tart brew with some candied esters and yeast notes going on. It had too much IPA components going on which deteriorated the nice, what could be sour attempt. I give kudos to Bear Republic for starting a sour programs and hope to see more offerings soon!!! j12601 (11796) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 14, 2010
On tap at Bar Great Harry. Pours a hazy ruby red with a small white head. Nutty toast, sour funk and a bit vegetal on the nose. Lots of caramel. Goes downhill really quickly moving into nutty acetone and horrendous old fruit. Nasty. Weird sourness, really tough to swallow.
