From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and complex Belgian yeast fruity. Sweet fruity yeasty and with a nice roasted malt flavour. Very fruity yeasty. Lasting fruity phenolic and sweet finish. Ungstrup (37601) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - NOV 26, 2010
Draft. A dark chestnut colored beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, yeast, wood, and wine. The flavor is sweet - a bit too sweet, with notes of malt, caramel, spices, nuts, yeast, and wood, leading to a dry spicy finish. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 10, 2009
On tap. Dark brown with an orange hue and a creamy light brown head. Distinct aroma of strong licorice. Quite full-bodied, lots of hard roasted malt and fruit and again licorice. Hard roasted malt finish. Unusual but delicious. 110709 bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - SEP 22, 2009
(Draught) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of vinous, cocoa, roasted grain, raisins, black licorice, molasses, and light smoke. Flavor of dates, wood, yeast, and roasted malt with mild bitterness in the finish. slowrunner77 (12044) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 7, 2014
"i have to take issue with the "wild and untamed" portion of the brewers description. other than that, it’s pretty accurate. a darn good beer, wild or not, just not what i was expecting. great malty flavor and aroma, with just a hint of the wildness and spices promised. a dangerously drnkable brew for 9.5%. The Bear’s summer alternative to Blac Bear stout."

This is a great beer. This was one of the best beers I had at the festival.
Draft @ Blind Tiger. Brown pour with some tan head. Spices, sweet fruit malt, sugars, and yeast aromas. Flavor is of nutmeg, cinnamon, sweet fruit through the malt, and some alcohol warming. Strykzone (7360) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - APR 26, 2009
Enjoyed on tap at The Stable. This is as big a brown ale as I can remember having. It looks quite distinctive with a big thick head on a dark caramel colored body. Aroma is sweet with brown sugar and caramel along with some fruit. Flavor is also quite sweet with lots of alcohol noted. Plenty of sugary caramel. Too high of an ABV is a drawback for me but lovers of bigger beers will enjoy this one.
