The Bottle Imp is a strong, dark, roasty and rich creation. This rendition of a Russian Imperial Stout is also infused with a blend of Mexican and Ethiopian fair-trade organic coffee. Complex and contemplative, and with well-integrated alcohol warmth, The Bottle Imp is best served in a snifter, sipped slowly and savoured.

History & Style
Beau’s Pro-Am Series is a salute to homebrewers, true innovators of our craft. These beers are designed by amateur brewers, and brewed at Beau’s. The Bottle Imp was brewed in collaboration with David Thompson, winner of the 2012 Toronto Beer Week Homebrew Contest.
The Russian Imperial Stout style is brewed to weigh in high on alcohol, with the roasted, malty character typical of a stout. The style was first brewed in England in the 18th century, and exported to Russia for the pleasure of Czarina Catherine II and her court.
The Bottle Imp is a haunting turn-of-the-century tale by Robert Louis Stevenson about risking eternal damnation of the soul to have everything on earth one’s heart desires. We suggest pairing the beer and the story on a cold night by a crackling fire.

Tasting Notes
The Bottle Imp is black, rich and malty, with a mouthfeel best described as liquid silk. The roasty dark malt character is complemented by fruit notes that suggest dates and figs, as well as subtle notes of black licorice. It is well-hopped to provide balance to the malts, keeping the residual sweetness in check. The coffee character is fully integrated, and a complement to the roast of the malts. The experience is rich and intense, with gentle alcohol warmth, and a long, complex finish.
The coffee infused into The Bottle Imp are a Mexican dark roast from Chiapas region (chocolate malt, toasted spice flavours) and a medium-roast Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (floral, berries, tropical fruit flavours), both roasted by Bridgehead in Ottawa.

Food Pairings
Pumpernickel bread, trifle, dark chocolate fondue, coffee cake, grilled steak, truffle-oil-infused mashed potatoes, & sharp cheddar or stilton.

A dark stout with a thick creamy head. It's strong but not overpowering like other imperial stouts

I do think that this beer is well done. Good balance with the coffee and chocolate. The coffee is a bit overpowered. This beer in bourbon barrel must be worth its money. Picked at LCBO in mid-December.

Bottle shared with the group at poker night. Near-black with a dense brown head. Rich coffee, deep roast, nuances of dark dried fruits and sweet spices. Rich and velvety. Excellent.

Too divided on this one. Might be a beer geek's muse but it simply sickens me, explanations to come: I'm a big time coffee aficionado. Love beer too but the two don't mix. The [ work (coffee) / respite (beer) ] dichotomy I guess. It's black as soot with a thick, bubbly head. Cafe Americano, ash smoke, peat and cardamom to the nose. Flavor too reminiscent of my stress filled day. It's a cold coffee. iced coffee is sacrilegious. P'tui and God bless!

On tap at Rogue Wetbar in Gastown Vancouver. Very dark with moderate tan head and sweet coffee nose. Wow, this is rich! Very heavily roasted coffee notes abound, leaving a dry bitter note on the tongue. Nice. 4

Nice coffee stout. Just a solid beer for any occasion, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Gerbeer (4296) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 18, 2018
600 ml bottle. Pours black with a full tan head. Aromas of rich roasted malts, molasses, chicory, and creamy coffee. Flavors follow same though a much stronger black coffee presence. Powdery dry and rich with a little sweetness in the finish. Great stuff

ljthiessen (1550) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 7, 2018
Bottle. Black pour with a large beige head. Aroma is malty chocolate and coffee, a little sweet and a bit roasty. Taste is malty chocolate and roasty coffee, a little sweetness up front but mostly dry, hides the ABV well.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, rye, and bourbon. Taste is as expected, caramel, coffee, chocolate and bourbon. Just as advertised and really good.

xmus eve, drinking more and more bored and liquifying myself. another another 9% beer is always a good idea! Blinky the cat is attempting to play foozball. i pathetically went to the dive trucker hotel lounge to play pinball just to find out that even alcoholics/truckers have something better to do than play VLT's so it was closed. So here I sit, wishing I had Ichiban to eat instead of having popcorn for supper a thirrd day in a row. -23C outside.. The urge to go nad drink this ove rthe river got shot down=== pretty quicks. So mpst of the bottle is gone as I got distracted by lint. And I just got distracted by something barely taller than lint: pintbypint. this god damn reveww will take 6 hours to fix the spelling mistakes. I think I'll see if I can do a quality revisew with the last 6ml of beer. The corffe in here smells fantastic.Healthy doseof chocotae, some berries, loads of thick roasted malts. Really, it smells good enogh to just keep smelling instead of typing. Flavoids - rich coffe, eathy, berries, its fucking heavy and thick gaddammit.zero alcohol, ok spice, less than moderate biternes. athers thnothing wrong with this at all. Smopoth and tasterific.I ahave rhoughoulyt enjoysted evnery sip and i still have more tha 6ml of beer. its; like ive never hd alcohol before. smashed directly into my brain and did an umber on whatever sills i though t i had typuing.i think ive covered it all but its probally best if i just keep typing anyway as theres still beer in my glass. 1790 characters before i typed 1790 charadctoers. Yo've met him. Shawn. Or is it Shaun. Dude is magical. Magical liek an imp or an elf or something. I left him blacked out at the U of A Mac's one night. Cuz im a good perosn if you are wondering. he ended up maybe hundreds deep on belg qualds. we lefrt before Earth ran out of beer. We did it for you, dear reader. Think of that - a world without beer because pintbypint consumed it all in one amazing night. its' why he's so short. gravity literally took control of the situation and yanked him to the pavemnt to protect all of man kind. You doubt this. But I was there. The balance of all humanity teetered on a razors edge taht night. Apolcalypse on the brink unbenounced to all. And I saved you all. Funny how thinks work out some nights. Chiildren you had since $ years ago? or was it 7? either way they would not exist. The delicate balance of power was decided right there and then. Corn Nuts for me, life for humanity.
