COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wild Oats No. 20 Mango Saison • 6.1% alc/vol A collaborative beer by Beau’s and Trou Du Diable, FOUS ALLIÉS is based on a classic, refreshing and snappy saison style, with an intriguing fruit twist. FOUS ALLIÉS underwent a secondary fermentation with the addition of organic mango juice, then even more mango juice was added to more fully capture the true fruit essence. Expect tropical fruit aroma with peppery notes; the flavour is also fruity and faintly tart, with a pleasant, dry finish. Lively carbonation and hints of white pepper accentuate the quaffable character. Delicious mango flavour adds complexity, slight earthiness, and playfulness to the to the presentation.

La robe est dorée, surmontée d’un collet blanc. Arome: fruits (poire), levures, houblon. Au gout: alcool, poire, levure, agrumes, houblon. Amertume agréable. Ensemble original, mais on cherche la mangue en vain.

Pale golden pour with a thick head. The nose is lightly sweet and a little bit tropical. Some light peppery notes as well as a little bit of fruit. There’s some light honeyed notes as well as a bit of grapefruit and some sweetness. It’s more Beaus than TdD but it’s okay.

Blonde claire.

600ml bottle. Aroma: banana, orange zest, flowers, nutmeg and other spices. App: cloudy light golden, minimal white head and nice lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, lots of mango in mouth, mouthfeel is juicy like eating a mango puree, moderate clean bitter finish. Overall: interesting. Different. I think I like it but find the mouthfeel to be so different, juicy and fluffy but with a good clean bitter finish. Not exactly the palate I expect from a saison but the aroma is right on and the taste is really fruity. I guess that proves that when your expectations are really low you can be really surprised. Rating 999, hopefully tomorrow when I drink that 1000 that is supposed to be really good I don’t put the bar too high and ruin it all. Anyway, I enjoy this collabo between Beau’s and TDD and that’s what matters.

Typical beau’s 600ml bottle. Pale amber. Nose is tropical fruits, black pepper, and champagne. Taste is similar with some apricot, pale malt and more spice. Round and medium bodied. Very nice.

600 ML. Nez léger peu fruité. Couleur mi-ambré, mi-brouillé. Goût tranquille de mangue avec douce finale en décroissance.

Had a 600ml bottle with Chopz at Pub Italia. Poured a fairly thin layer of creamy head. Has a light golden colour and a cloudy/hazy appearance. Looks like a bit of a pulpy cloud inside glass, leftover mangoes I suppose ha! Aromas of mild mango as well as some citrus notes. Mango flavours are quite apparent. A bit wheaty and malty. Something feels a bit off to me, maybe mangoes used weren’t quite fresh enough. No clue but somewhat of a turn off of flavour. A bit of a yeasty feel on the palate. Some tartiness to it. Weird flavour aftertaste, cannot pinpoint?! A bit disappointed with this one. But glad to have tried, because of the ltd quantities.

Belle robe orangée, au nez elle laisse deviner les ses notes fruités. En bouche, c’est très fin dans les arômes fruités avec des légères pointes herbacés. Une belle effervescence à noter également. Bière très désaltérante.

Clear yellow with a thick creamy white head with good retention. Aroma is Mango, peaches, cereals and grass. Flavour is mango juice, peaches, some spices, cereals, lemon a hint of sugar and a lightly bitter finish. Medium body, medium carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle from Best of 2015 4-pack. Like my drinkin’ buddy Hippyhop mentions in his review (somewhere a couple of pages below) I’m also excited to try a colloboration between two of my favourite breweries. It’s a pretty fantastic saison, but interesting to note that considering the two breweries involved it doesn’t totally blow my hair back. But maybe expectations are dangerous things. It’s strength is its drinkability -- refreshing, flavourful, nice balance between peppery spicing & tropical sweetness. On the other hand, this could be even better if the finish were more tart & had a longer sustain. But what do i know? ive been known to mess up brewing a cup of tea let alone crafting a beer. Some reviewers wish it were more mango forward but I appreciate the restraint. I’d love to swill a bunch of these after a hot day but alas it’s pipe bursting cold outside here on family day weekend as I try to get a little buzz on now that the little boy is in his crib.
