COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This strong & dark beer, inspired by the Alfred bog, is our very first seasonal offering. Featuring bog myrtle, or sweet gale, harvested from the wilds of northern Quebec. This ancient herb was used in brewing hundreds of years ago and offers bitterness, a sweet aroma and herbal spicy notes.

Metalchopz (3388) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 2, 2012
Pours a copper colour with a beige frothy head that last a while, but does not stick to the glass much. Mild beautiful aromas found in a Belgian ale with soft spices and yeast. Medium-bodied. Roasted malts that taste more sweet than burnt with notes of bananas in the finish. Pretty cool that they use wild harvested bog myrtle instead of hop. Nice and easy drinking spicy ale, but does not warm up much for those winter day (or nights). Still, a pleasant different brew that is mild overall (which it was stronger in all aspect).

Bouteille 600ml.

Quevillon (3094) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 19, 2016
600 ml bought at the brewery on April 29, 2016. Murky orange brown, small head. Fruity herb aroma, earthy notes. Earthy fruit taste, notes of dry green herbs and spruce, herbal bitterness. Fairly impressive gruit ale, it is their speciality!

[bottle from LCBO] Spicy aroma with ginger, lemon, star anise, faint clove, and brown sugar. Hazy dark brown under a thin, tan ring and patches. Sour flavour right up front, followed by pleasant brown sugar and lemon and faint spices (see aroma) and no bitterness. Light to medium-light body, moderate carbonation, lingering sourness.

Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2013 Growler from the brewery, courtesy of my buddy Jay. Spicy nose, along with lots of malt - nice. Neat appearance - very dark brown, hazy and murky - very little head. Taste is good - reminded me instantly of Anchor Our Special Ale in its spiciness - it would have been more appropriate to drink this in the Winter than outside on the first great day of the year! Sweet malty brown ale with a neat original bit of spiciness - good effort Beau’s.

600ml bottle. Brown with a nice biege head that fades to a spotty covering. Somewhat roasted and sweet malt, some caramel, bit of belgian sugar, lightly spiced. Light carbonation, moderate body, sweet and a large malt presence, becomes a little weak on the finish.

I love it just for being so different. Nice light malt up front, maybe a hint of caramel (not much). Middle is more like dark fruits (plums, maybe even prunes). Finish is almost minty. Light in the mouth with almost no carbonation. Very interesting beer.
