COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This strong & dark beer, inspired by the Alfred bog, is our very first seasonal offering. Featuring bog myrtle, or sweet gale, harvested from the wilds of northern Quebec. This ancient herb was used in brewing hundreds of years ago and offers bitterness, a sweet aroma and herbal spicy notes.

I love it just for being so different. Nice light malt up front, maybe a hint of caramel (not much). Middle is more like dark fruits (plums, maybe even prunes). Finish is almost minty. Light in the mouth with almost no carbonation. Very interesting beer.

750 ml bottle shared by jessem. thx for the share jesse! the was an odd ball! weird spicey sweet mix both in the flavour and the aroma. not at all drinkable but not poorly brewed. the belgian yeast profile didnt go un-noticed, neither did the myrtle.

Growler shared by someone.
Appearance : Hazy amber with no head.
Aroma : Spices and fruits with some malt. Nice yeast with nice banana bread notes.
Taste : Spices with light bananas. Finish has nice notes of banana bread. Light bitterness.
Overall : Nothing to write home about but quite good. Nice banana bread notes. I thought this was a weizen.

(Lot 4874-Emb. 1er fe.16) (1770-110316)

Bottle from LCBO. Pours cloudy and brown. Pretty nice aroma; reminds me of a Belgian ale; full of pepper and other spices. Taste is too sweet, very herbal, and spicy... maybe a general "vegetable" taste in there too. Feels a bit thin, and carbonation a bit too high. Not a fan of this one. EDIT: getting near the end of my glass, and the beer has warmed up. Now I smell some farmyard animals in there, and taste it too. Adjusting my score to average out my initial impressions with my final impressions.

Growler from the brewery, about a week "old"-Its nice to have contacts in the Ottawa area.Decants a deep, clouded brown with a thin beige ring of head. The nose is certainly malt forward, and hints at dark rye bread, dark fruit and lots of spice. This is certainly sweet, but Im not sure if it is from the malts or from the sweet gale. Either way it is pleasant. Fruity, quite spicy, almost savory. The alcohol content is not noticeable, and this beer finishes softly with the low carbonation. Spiced, sweet lingering aftertaste. Quite a treat.

600 ml bottle from les arpents verts A: herbacy, with some earthy notes, red fruits. app: clear reddish brown with thick and lasting white head. Good lacing. T/p: med body with light acidic finish. Moderate high carbonation. O: good. Not a fan off gruit beers. This one is in the upper range of the one I had before.
