COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This strong & dark beer, inspired by the Alfred bog, is our very first seasonal offering. Featuring bog myrtle, or sweet gale, harvested from the wilds of northern Quebec. This ancient herb was used in brewing hundreds of years ago and offers bitterness, a sweet aroma and herbal spicy notes.

Metalchopz (3364) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 2, 2012
Pours a copper colour with a beige frothy head that last a while, but does not stick to the glass much. Mild beautiful aromas found in a Belgian ale with soft spices and yeast. Medium-bodied. Roasted malts that taste more sweet than burnt with notes of bananas in the finish. Pretty cool that they use wild harvested bog myrtle instead of hop. Nice and easy drinking spicy ale, but does not warm up much for those winter day (or nights). Still, a pleasant different brew that is mild overall (which it was stronger in all aspect).

bottle. Pours deep ruby, head quickly disappeared. Aroma of banana, yeast, malts. Taste is sweet, almost a cross between a dunkelweisse and a dubbel. Interesting and good.

Ambrée. Sucré. Florale/herbacé. Très Fruité. Baie, probablement la myrte. Épicé. Fine amertume végétale. Légère trame de caramel de l'entré à la finale. Très intéressante.

600ml bottle from the brewery in Vankleek Hill, Ontario.
Bottled on November 13, 2014. Batch #3956. Muddy brown in colour with a thin white head, little lacing. The aroma is fruity, herbal, spice and bread. The flavour is light bitter, some spice, herbal, earthy. Finishes long, sweet to start turning herbal.

600 ml bought at the brewery on April 29, 2016. Murky orange brown, small head. Fruity herb aroma, earthy notes. Earthy fruit taste, notes of dry green herbs and spruce, herbal bitterness. Fairly impressive gruit ale, it is their speciality!

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2012 2012-11-29. Hazy dark brown body with a nice tan head and lace. 3+ Sweet mild aroma light malt, sort of muted spice touches. 6+ Mild flavour of sweet malt, muted fruit and soft spice that may have been subliminal. 3++ Smooth average bodied palate. Enjoyable but a bit too mild overall. 6/3/6/3/12+ On cask? at Amsterdam Movember Event

2008-05-01. Dark brown body with a nice tan head. (3+) Pleasant aroma is brown ale-esque. Light herbal-greenery notes (presumably the bog myrtle?), spice, dusty malt notes in the back. (6+) Sweet malty flavour with light notes of sugar or caramel. Modest herbal finish, light spice. Smooth palate is slightly fuller than average. (3+) I like it, I donít love it, partly because of the herbal nature which I find I like more or less at various points throughout the glass. Still, overall its a pretty solid effort with more flavour than than their flagship brew. Nice. 7/3/7/3/15 3.5 Bottle shared by GregClow<P> "That should be their slogan. Front Line Assembly... Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours a deep ruby-brown with an average size lasting off-white head. Aroma has some fruit, caramel malt and light spices. Flavour of caramel malt, herbal notes, spices and a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Nice, this was way better then I expected -- kudos to Beauís.

strowlands8 (209) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 4, 2010
On cask at Vole. Pours a medium amber brown. Aroma is quite earthy with some malt and spicyness. Taste is similar with lots of malt sweetness and some interesting flavours backing it up. Whether it is earthyness or spicyness it definitely lives up to its name. An interesting beer but Iím not quite sure I really love it.

I love it just for being so different. Nice light malt up front, maybe a hint of caramel (not much). Middle is more like dark fruits (plums, maybe even prunes). Finish is almost minty. Light in the mouth with almost no carbonation. Very interesting beer.
