4 oz sample at National Capital Craft Beer Festival. 17AU12. GRM (4075) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 6, 2012
App.: Hazy light copper with a fair dark tan head.
Aroma: Strong Bourbon, very woody, strong dark dried fruit, tangy fruitiness, a little peppery rye, a bit vegetal.
Palate: Medium+ body, full, rounded effervescence.
Flav.: Too much barrel, raisins, dried fruits, caramel, more wood, slightly peppery, not for me; dry with decent bitterness an inky, lingering malt finish.
Too much Bourbon barrel for my tastes.

Pours clear orange. Lots of grainy rye with some background orange flavours and maybe some pine as well. Alcohol is present, but not overwhelming. Good bitter finish. Nice effort! HogTownHarry (7012) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2012
April 3, 2012 - 600ml bottle shared with blankboy, garthicus and at least two others. Clear amber with gold highlights, decent smallish off-white head. Subtle aroma - some oak, vanilla and bourbon, but restrained - not overly sweet or boozy, nice lush cereal grain character. Taste is sweeter than the aroma, a bit of "Jack" to it, a bit boozy. Average, sticky body, mild carbonation, a bit of a boozy/bourbon kick in the finish - pleasant, not too OTT. cfrancis (3474) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 17, 2012
Pours a copper, caramel with a small off white ring. Aroma is smooth oak bourbon with some rye and faint floral hops. Taste is a nice smooth, warming oak and boubon. Faint hop bitterness and floral flavouring with the dryness from the rye. Interesting beer, but seems forced with the barrel aging.

Brownish/orange pour, loads of sediment. Aroma is heavy of the JD casks, sweet caramel malts, orange peel. Flavour is sweet and very well balanced character. Whiskey meets malt meets hop. By far the best beaus beer I’ve had. blankboy (7714) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 2, 2012
Bottle [600ml] shared with garthicus, herrbrown1974 & HogTownHarry at Burger Bar. April 3. Pours a murky copper-orange with lots of little floaties and a small diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of bourbon, vanilla, wood and light rye beer in the background. For a barrel-aged beer the flavour’s also a little mild and like the aroma, the bourbon, vanilla and wood are in the forefront with the rye beer in the back. This beer is not as "big" as I expected, it’s pretty easy to drink and the alcohol is relatively well hidden. Medium bodied. Quite good, I enjoyed it. A cognac amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity ester malt with light white grape notes. In mouth, a woody sweet caramel malt with light cork and vanilla notes, some burned notes, lingering bitterness, herbal and interesting. Sampled from bottle at Wellington Gastropub, April 19, 2012.
