COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnt Rock is a classic British-style porter brewed with additions of organic vanilla beans and extract. Despite what the weighty aroma suggests, Burnt Rock has a good, clean finish, and sessionable drinkability.

History & Style
Beau’s Pro-Am Series is a salute to homebrewers, true innovators of our craft. Beers designed by amateur brewers, brewed at Beau’s. Cheers to Members of Barleyment’s Patrick Boisvenue for brewing this wonderful winter warmer with us!

Tasting Notes
With rich, luxuriant vanilla aromas reminiscent of fine tobacco, selected dark malts offer up balancing chocolate and coffee nuances for this medium-bodied beer. Hops add a pleasantly dry finish.

Food Pairings
Mascarpone filled gnocchi with truffle oil, caramel and nutty treats, trifle

600 ml bottle from the brewery on November 28, 2014. Black, small head. Malty aroma of chocolate and vanilla, fairly sweet. Roasted malt and light vanilla taste, some notes of toasted grains, light dry bitterness. Solid stuff, unofficial beer of curling?

Pours a black with a frothy brown head. Nose is sweet vanilla and chocolate. Vanilla and cacao flavors in the mouth with a hint of coffee. Light sourness. Medium carbonation. Smooth vanilla porter.

Voilà un porter franc et pétillant. Cendré, chocolaté, légèrement acide et vanillé à la perfection. C’est exactement ce que j’ai envie de boire lorsqu’on me parle d’un porter à la vanille. Léger et goûteux.

600 ml bottle in the 2014 Best of Beau’s gift pack from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours an opaque dark mahogany brown with a couple fingers of tan head. Retention is short and lacing is slight.

Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, bit of charcoal and sweet pipe tobacco.

Flavours: Vanilla, chocolate, espresso, toffee.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and velvety with moderate viscosity and light carbonation.

Overall: This is a beautiful Porter with lots of vanilla flavour and it has a bit thicker mouthfeel than many other Porters I’ve had. This is one of the better beers that Beau’s brews in my opinion and I give it top marks for upfront aromas and lots of flavour.

Bottle - Light roast and vanilla. Jet brown and a light brown head. Tons of vanilla and roast with some chocolate notes. A little overboard on the vanilla.

Last one in the mixer pack. Pour is a headless black. Nose is chocolate, toasted grain, vanilla. Taste is the same but the vanilla seems much more present. It’s got this strange, pleasant vanilla coke quality that I like. It’s a little thin, surprisingly dry, but quite drinkable.
