COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnt Rock is a classic British-style porter brewed with additions of organic vanilla beans and extract. Despite what the weighty aroma suggests, Burnt Rock has a good, clean finish, and sessionable drinkability.

History & Style
Beau’s Pro-Am Series is a salute to homebrewers, true innovators of our craft. Beers designed by amateur brewers, brewed at Beau’s. Cheers to Members of Barleyment’s Patrick Boisvenue for brewing this wonderful winter warmer with us!

Tasting Notes
With rich, luxuriant vanilla aromas reminiscent of fine tobacco, selected dark malts offer up balancing chocolate and coffee nuances for this medium-bodied beer. Hops add a pleasantly dry finish.

Food Pairings
Mascarpone filled gnocchi with truffle oil, caramel and nutty treats, trifle

En fût au Wellington gastro Pub. Couleur brune très foncée, presque noire. Mousse beige. Arôme de vanille et café, un peu de choco. En bouche, choco-vanille, sucrée, pas de houblons apparent. Très douce en bouche, très bonne.

Pours a massive amount of foamy, bubbly brownish head. Has a dark brown appearance. Some patchy lacing. Aromas of light malts, vanilla, with notes of nuts, mild caramel and spices. The vanilla flavour is quite noticeable and is backed with some nice sweet malts and spiced hops in the mix. Has a nice light mouthfeel, very smooth. Lively carbonation. Overall good balance of sweetness and bitterness. Pretty good coming from amateur brewers, for their Pro-Am series.

bottle. Poured dark brown with a thin mocha head. Sweet and roasty aroma of coffee and vanilla. Medium body, tight carbonation, slightly tart sour finish. Flavour of roasted malt, slightly smokey, hints of cocoa and vanilla. Fairly dry ending.

Very dark brown pour, thin brown head. Little bit or retention. Strong vanilla aroma, some other malt aromas too, toffee, toasted, chocolate. Taste Is similar, vanilla mostly but balanced with the chocolate and other malt. Medium body, lighter carbonation. Great.

Aroma of vanilla, a bit if red fruit and dark malts. Taste is much the same. A bit of pleasant acridness from the dark malt. Balanced and easy drinking. Well done.

650ml bottle. Pours a clear dark, dark burgundy when held up to the light, with a beige head. Coffee, caramel, cocoa, graham cracker, but honestly, I’m not getting ANY vanilla on the nose. As for taste, Tootsie Rolls, caramel, roasty malt notes, and the most out of place hops I’ve ever tasted that lead into lots of coffee notes and caramel. Honestly, too much mineral heavy hopping that just doesn’t suit the profile of this particular beer. It’s a total distraction, which is unfortunate, because everything buried beneath them tastes pretty darn good. I can’t recommend it.

600ml bottle. Dark brown with a frothy tan head. Flavors are toasted bread, roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, coffee and vanilla with ashy notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, oily texture.

Bottle (600 ml). Split 3-ways with the lady and the brother in law.

Appearance: Dark brown with a medium diminishing beige head and little lacing.

Aroma: A burst of vanilla followed by butterscotch, light coffee notes, hints of tobacco and light chocolate. Maybe a bit artificial?

Taste: Similar to the aroma. Vanilla is dominant, but not overpowering. The butterscotch is quite present too along tobacco, coffee/roasted malt and light fruitiness.

Palate: Medium body. Moderate to medium carbonation. A bit oily mouthfeel. Sticky vanilla finish along a butterscotch aftertaste.

Overall: Good Porter! Very tasty. A bit too flavorful (and borderline artificial) to be easily drinkable, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. Balance is decent.

jet black veary small fast carbnation a tiny little red at bottom cant see throw dark and mocha head looks great. Smell bitterness, toffee, vanilla, butterscotch and maybe coffee(roasted) a tad. Starts of watery medium bodied with lots of bitterness and some butterscotch and vanilla taste(sometimes lite sometimes strong) and lots of bitterness and some drys out with maybe a little roasted and chocolate taste. Good but not great. 5.6% version.

Bottle shared with family in law. Aroma: coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, smokey. App: dark brown with small medium beige head. Taste and palate: medium creamy body, light sweetness, watery a bit, sweet and bitter finish. Overall: not bad, would have liked a more full body, less watery, but it’s still a good porter.
