Pours a huge frothy, bubbly tan head that stays for awhile. Has a coppery/light brown appearance. Ok lacing. Toasty and light roasted malts, breads and mild hints of vanilla. Flavours are very nutty, toasty, with a bit of yeasty thickness. Some notes of toffee, spices and resin hops. In the finish, seems like bitter earthy type hops. Drying and slight warming sensation. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Smooth well balanced mouthfeel. Good balance between bitterness and sweetness. Really good stuff!

Poured an amber color with a white jead. Aroma was of grass, caramel and toffee. Flavor similar. Not my thing

600 ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby reddish amber with a short lived white head. Aroma is caramel, earth. Flavor is caramel, copper. Finish is somewhat earthy, some red berries, a bit sandy. Lingering mineral notes, rather flavorful overall. Medium body, average carbonation.

How: Bottle (600 ml) at home. Bottle in June 2015, so 3 months old.

>>> A raisins forward - so not that much on style - but otherwise clean and easy driking german lager.

- Clear amber with a small off-white head, moderate retention, leaving a small ring of foam and little lacing.
- There’s a raisin presence upfront in both aroma and taste which I find a bit annoying.
- A well dosed mix of caramel and toasted malts give this beer a good backbone.
- Body is medium, as is carbonation. The mouthfeel is a bit oily.
- There’s a mild but lingering herbal bitterness.
- Too raisins forward for me, but otherwise it’s a clean and easy drinking german style lager.

Flavors: Raisins, caramel, toasted malts, herbal notes, mild spiciness, mild noble hops.

Pours a pretty amber with a fat tan cap that leaves nice lace. Aroma is typical caramel/"red fruit"/roasted grain. Taste is the same predictable sweet, fruity caramel malt, light toasted nuts, light mineral water. The bitterness kicks in just about the time I’m starting to wonder where it is. Solid interpretation of the style. Definitely lacks the carbonation of the 2014 version (based on my buddy Freaky_Tiki’s review)

Bamsen78 (5562) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 10, 2015
Draught @ The Boathouse, Kitchener. Pours hazy copper brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, with notes of caramel and yeast and touches of bread. Dusty and sweetish flavour of malt, caramel and bread, with notes of hops and yeast. Bitterish and slightly estery aftertaste. Slightly watery, despite the medium to high carbonation. Nice, especially for the non-native style,
