The Bohemian pilsner is a staple of the German diet, and we’re happy to include one for you in the 2014 Beau’s Oktoberfest mix pack! Pale blond in colour, Happy Pilsner’s light floral, herbal and honey aromas take your senses on a trip to their happy place: the ever-enjoyable taste of a crisp, clean traditional lager.

History & Style
The Bohemian pilsner was first brewed in 1842 in Pilsen, Bohemia. Pilsners were the first beers in the world to have a pale blond colour. Beau’s first brewed Happy Pilsner for happy Oktoberfest-goers in 2010, and we’re super-duper happy to bring it back for 2014.

Tasting Notes
Happy Pilsner has a delicate herbal, floral and honey-like aroma. Traditional to the style, the flavour has some yeast-derived soft sulfur notes. The hopping provides medium bitterness that balances the malt profile without harshness.

Food Pairings
Caviar, croque monsieur, fried calamari, enchiladas.

Pours an insane amount of foamy bubbly white head and has a fairly clear golden appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of citrus and floral hops, grains. Flavours are quite citrusy. Some hints of caramel malts. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Not too bad.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2015 From 600ml bottle, poured into 12oz stemmed tulip glass. Gift from friend

Aroma: rich malts, spicy, flora, slight diacetyl, otherwise clean

Appearance:deep burnish gold, nice white creamy head which lingers, slightly hazy (might be cold haze)

Taste: light sweet/rich malts and medium bitter

Palate: Average carbonation, creamy, medium body, bitter finish

Overall: Nice flora and spicy hops, with a nice rounded bitterness. More malt presence than I expected, but not overdone. A very soft, rounded, well balanced Pilsener. Easy drinking. Very, very nice. Would order/purchase again

T - Good bitterness. It’s very orange bitter, some pepper, pine cone and more bitter tree fruits.Lovely wheat heavy.

M - good body, very clean, hoppy finish nice fruitiness throughout with walnuts in the finish as well

O - Great break in our sweet beer tasting and a delicious pils.

Bottle (600 ml). Split 2-ways. Shared by Minderbinder, thanks!

Appearance: Slightly hazy bright golden with a medium easy to revive creamy white head and some lacing.

Aroma: Honeyed malts with nice herbal features, freshly baked bread, some citrus and hints of spiciness/peppery notes.

Taste: Honeyed malts, fresh cereals, a tad more citrus than in the aroma, freshly cut grass and light spiciness.

Palate: Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Fluffy mouthfeel. Crisp. Moderately dry finish with a light lingering herbal presence.

Overall: The bottle had at least 2-3 months, I’m curious if the beer quality decreased because it’s less fresh or increased because the hops take a little less space giving the beautiful crisp malts a more prominent role. Anyway, this was mightily drinkable/quenching and super tasty. I would love to drink this on a regular basis.

Pours a cloudy yellow with little to no head. Aroma is pilsner malt, floral, light noble, and kinda herbal. Flavour is mildly sweet pilsner malt, mildly spicy noble hops, lightly floral and some herbal notes. Not a bad brew.

Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of sweet pil malts, herbal notes, floral aromas with a light sweetness on the finish. Taste is pil malts, spicy noble hops, light herbal flavors, light sulphur yeasty flavors and a crisp and clean bitterness... Really enjoy drinking a good bohemian pil and this is one of them.

(Rating #6065)

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden straw colour. Aroma is floral hops with a touch of sulfur from the yeast I’m guessing. Taste is of bready and sweet malts with a bit of floral hops. Decent beer.

Aroma of and bready malts and noble hops. Lingering sweetness and hop taste - could use a cleaner finish.
