COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wag the Wolf is a weissbier (wheat beer) that has been generously “late-addition” hopped with organic New Zealand varieties to provide abundant aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. Made with 65% wheat, and fermented with a traditional German weissbier yeast, expect pleasant fruit and spice flavours with a restrained bitterness on the finish.

History & Style
Our hopfenweisse, is a hop-forward and North American twist on the Bavarian weissbier. The traditionally fruity, spicy and refreshing weissbier is matched with big hop aromas of citrus and tropical fruit.

Tasting Notes
Hazy and pale gold in colour. Notes of banana, clove, papaya, mango and citurs on the nose. Lively carbonation with pleasant maltiness. Spicy and fruity, with a slightly dry finish.

Food Pairings
Sausage, Duck & Game Fowl, Goat Cheese, Summer Salads. Plays nicely with spicy food.

Rating #2817 - 2016.09.09 - Sample at GCBF 2016. Expectations shattered. Was expecting a mildly hoppy german hef type beer. Hazy golden pour, decent white head. Aroma is lots of yeasty floral fruit esters, peachy mango aroma from the hops. Palate is not dominated by any one characteristic, impeccable balance of sweet fruits and mild bitterness. Crazy good.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver, 6% ABV
Cloudy dull golden color. The aroma is nice, bread and a hint of mandarin and orange jam. Strong cereals flavor, bread, strong bitterness, some juicy fruity character upfront and bolder bitterness later.
Weird but good.

On tap at St. Augs. Cloudy, no head, and a light tannish sort of colour. On the nose, big bright fruity hops, lots of them, bringing a range of citrus, petrichor, and rambutan. Quite bitter - a wheat in name only; it's really an IPA. The hops are big and bright. The malt base is decent, unobtrusive, staying out of the hops' way though not actually make the beer better. Off-dry finish with grapefruit rind, and bright tropical fruit notes. Quality.

Bottle from Table and Vine. Nice cloudy yellow orange with lasting dense rocky white head and lace. Banana lemon clove with a hint of tropical fruit. Medium light wheaty peachy tropical sweetness with medium-heavy citrus lemon long bitterness. Light soft lovely body. Obviously a very well made beer in every way. I just don't think bitter hefe-weizens taste good.

I had this one from the Beau's Summer pack. Had this one while doing some demolition in the backyard on a crisp clear sunny day. Not bad at all.

Bottle. Clear pale gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of hay, grassy hop, old fashioned soap, wheat, and white pepper. Flavors of sweet lemon, malted wheat, sharp grassy hop, earth, and mild banana. Medium bodied with a sharp (and slightly odd) lime rind bitterness. A hefeweizen crossed with an IPA... a mostly successful fusion.

Cloudy yellow body, foamy thick white head, nice lacing. Aroma of sweet yeast, pineapple, coconut, resin, hops. Taste is sweet bready yeasty with a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. A bit on the thin side palate wise, but overall a nice wheat ale.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy golden pour with a thick white head. Aroma is nice tropical fruit with hints of citrus and spice, really great. Taste is the same, somewhat light bodied but still a great flavour and good balance, slightly dry finish.
