3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Once again I’m left underwhelmed by Beau’s. With all the hype it gets around my parts (perhaps being a Grad student does this--Beau’s ticks off all the right boxes for my demographic), I have yet to taste a Beau’s beer that really gets me excited. I have yet to have a bad beer by the brewer, but for me even their one-offs can’t touch those of other Ontario brewers like Flying Monkeys, Muskoka, Nickel Brook, etc. This beer is no different. It pours beautifully, really great deep ruby red colour with a solid, slightly tan head. The smell and taste is of fresh coffee--and I suppose your love of coffee determines a lot with the beer. Underneath the coffee flavour is some sweet maltiness, a typical amber combination of flavours and not much else. Thin bodied for something that initially seems to be much heavier. A beer that could be more than it is; I wouldn’t turn it down, but it is not something I would search out either.
Pours a huge frothy creamy off white head that give soff good lacing. Has a clear amber/copper appearance. Aromas of dark roasted coffee grinds and mild notes of cocoa. Roasted malts and coffee flavour is somewhat mild but quite apparent, actually nicely balanced with hops and malts. Has notes of caramel and a bit of mocha. Great taste, not too sweet and not too bitter. Pretty weak carbonation. Has a nice slick mouthwarming sensation. Really great taste and gets better as it warms up. jgb9348 (6579) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - NOV 22, 2016
Dark brown coloured body with a thin off-white single centimetre tall off-white. Aroma of toasted malt, brown and caramelised sugars with a big note of coffee pulp along with some earth and funky cardboards. Medium-bodied; Assertive flavours of coffee, earth, grain and alcohol along with some toasted malt and earthiness and some pungent bitterness mostly from the coffee, but a touch of the hops noticeable. Aftertaste shows some grain, a bit of earthy funk, some noticeable caramelised sugars and pitted fruits and a big dose of coffee at the end, from the greens and the pulp rather than from anything brewed. Overall, an interesting ’winter’ beer that shows more of a lighter Ale, similar to a Mild, with a distinct coffee flavour and some toasted malts. Decent, but not worth flying back with in a bag - I’m happy I drove this one home. I sampled this 20.4 ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 01-July-2016 for US$5,95 sampled at home in Washington a day before leaving back for New York on 21-November-2016.

bottle. Poured amber-orange, hazy finish with a big beige head. Great aroma, a mix of orange and coffee. Medium body, average carbonation with a dry bitter finish. Tastes of toasted bready malt, coffee beans, herbal hops and a touch tart. Nice. jtclockwork (17604) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 20, 2015

600ml bottle. Clear copper with a frothy off-white head. Flavors are toasted malts, coffee, caramel, nuts and chocolate with herbal and fruity notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, oily texture. Randy4Beer (515) - - MAR 20, 2015
A murky dirty copper body, with a moderate, slightly off-white head.
Aromas are strong coffee, especially as it warms. Really off-putting as you bring the glass up to your nose.
The tastes have some red fruits in the background, but it and anything else is struggling to break through the coffee flavour. I’m thinking they should have cut the measure of coffee in about half and this might have been a far more interesting beer. Right now it tastes more like somebody dumped a bit of beer into your cup of cold coffee. Could never drink more than one of these. Maybe ever. zach8270 (4021) - Henrietta, New York, USA - MAR 5, 2015
(bottle - 20 oz) Copper pour with a ton of foam. Fizzed over when I opened the bottle. Definite coffee note in the aroma with a bit of hops coming up at the end. Flavor is like you took a very strong iced coffee and dry hopped it. Really different but I liked it. wrussell65 (7) - Quebec, CANADA - FEB 28, 2015 does not count
Subtle coffee aroma, nice amber color. Long lasting flavour on palette. Interesting taste. Easy drinking kevinsenn (2310) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2015
Bottle. Fruit punch and coffee aroma. Pleasant fruity amber flavour, with noticeable coffee flavour that doesn’t clash like I’d expect it to. Good brew.
