Nose is is toast, butter, biscuits, lemon, slight cream. Taste leads with pine, and grapefruit from the citra, leading through to licorice herbs smoke, ash, coco, pepper and roasted malt. Finish is long bitter and very dry, balancing the pine with ash. Mouthfeel is rich. Very nice beer. Still a stupid concept though.

Pours dark brown to black with thin off-white head and great lacing. Aroma is pine, pineapple, orange peel, burnt caramel and coffee, with the dark malts on the lighter side and an IPA trying to get out! Taste has some sweetness then leads to a bitter and good length finish with a nice hint of booze. Very good Black IPA.

Can. Pours dark brown with lots of fluffy tan foam. Aroma of toffee and dried apricots. Starts very sweet with notes of peach and orange but than comes some very acidic and dry part with hints of roasted malt. Liquorice and raisins on the finish. The alcohol is very well hidden but could have been more present to complement the fruity notes. Almost no carbonation which makes it appear like a sweet and sour, watered-down stout. Above average but I somehow had expected more of this.

Amazing. Like a porter crossed with an american ipa. Shouldn’t work but does!

Bijna helder donkerbruin, me beige schuimkraag.

Donkerbruin, iets lichtdoorlaten, beige foamy schuimkraag, iets koolzuur. Zeer goed!

Can. Cloudy dark brown color, yellowish foam. Aroma: honey-spicy hop, a little nectar, candied fruits, hay, light caramel. Taste: caramel, a little hay, fruit, biscuit, good hop bitterness, a little earthy.

PowY (908) - AUSTRIA - AUG 10, 2017
330 ml can, bb 24.09.17. Pours a hazy dark brown with a tan colored head. The aroma is medium hoppy with herbs, resin, pine and lemon together with some reluctant notes of roasted malt (toffee) in the background. Medium to full dense body with a low carbonation, a light to medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is lightly malty - biscuit, dark bread, caramel - and light to medium hoppy - again herbal, resinous, earthy together with ripe citric fruit, oranges.

From. Decervecitas. Can. At Elba Costa Ballena, in hotel’s tubular glass. Really, really, smooth, well balanced and drinkable. The black and IPA characters mix surprisingly well.Looks good even in this shitty glass. Leaves a really nice and long aftertaste

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2017 Fantastisk bitter Black India Pale Ale.
