Bottled (From AbM). Deep brown, close to black, colour with a mediumsized creamy beigeish brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, some fruity and floral notes along with mild herbal notes as well. Flavour is ashy, chocolaty, mild toffee and some slight toasted notes along with quite mellow fruity and floral notes, but a big hoppy bitter kick in the finish. Well balanced, and pretty much this is the kind of black IPA I like. Travlr (26406) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2015
Draft at Churchkey. Clear dark brown color, beige head with spider web lacing. Beautiful aroma of fresh pine needles on a coffee ground background. Taste is bittersweet pine needles dipped in chocolate dipped in espresso. A better example of a Cascadian Dark Ale than many similar beers from the Cascade Mountains. Delicious. madmitch76 (26366) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 24, 2012

Opaque black beer with a big pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with fine carbonation. Dry dark malt, creamy and with a whisper of roast. Bitter hops, touch of citrus but mostly just bitter. Finishes dry and bitter. Too dry and bitter. A head scratcher this one - everyone seems to love this except me. Must try another bottle. 2.3

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Soft palate. Creamy dark malt. Mild piney hops. Trace of red berry fruits. Finishes smooth. Fairly simple stuff but this bottle hung together well whereas my first one was a mess,

Keg at BrewDog, Stockholm. Hazy dark brown, creamy head. Rich sweaty nose with black currant and passion fruit. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Cane sugar, black cherries, passion fruit. Long finish with mild resiny bitterness. Intense, concentrated hop flavours, perhaps too sweet.
