Can from Leighton. Lovely orange nose, Amarillo, peaches, lemon, clean malt but it shows a solid backbone, some biscuit. Hazy gold, low lacy head. Great flavor, orange, lemon, some grapefruit. Love this English malt in the back. No caramel, but biscuits and rich. Really nice stuff.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from Inn At Home, Guildford. Fruity aroma - pineapple to borrow from a prior rating - with pine and resin. A hazy gold. Lively white head, although it soon thins out. Chunky monkey bubbles. Starts off lightly sour, then develops a bitterness with a real citrus bite. Light - medium bodied. Slightly oily. Lively carbonation, with a long dry finish. Good stuff. The blood orange gives it a real lift but not worth the hype.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can from Oddbins Aberdeen. Pours clear gold with thin white head. Sweet fruit aromas of pineapple, grapefruit with a light citrus sherbet. Clean fresh pine finish. Taste is light citrus with a beautiful balance of fresh pine bitterness. Light body with a softening oiliness and a dry gentle to medium sparkle. A fantastically light but punchy IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml can. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: citrus, blood orange, zest. Taste: juicy citrus fruit, grapefruit, blood orange isn’t that strong in the flavour to be honest but it’s there just about, some in the aftertaste too, light sweet with a bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty decent IPA I just think the blood orange notes are a bit too subtle when they’re calling attention to it in the name of the beer and on the label.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy golden colour. Alcohol is hidden well. Orange after taste. Was expecting a bit more from this, but still decent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 330ml can. Pours a dark lemon colour with a small frothy head. Aroma is of orange and fruity hops. Orange in the flavour is quite subtle, almost manadarin like. Hoppiness, but not too bitter. Quite a clean finish. Nice beer to end a sunny day with.

Always mystified at how many people froth over this one. This is like every other crafty IPA you’ve ever had: big hops, hidden alcohol, unfulfilled claim of originality that you can’t taste (in this case it’s blood orange. Me neither.) None of which is bad, by any means, I just always want it to be better than it turns out to be. But it’s fine, try a can. Then try something better.
