COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Believe it or not, we had never brewed a pale ale when we started. But once our experimental Alpha Series was launched around 6 months in, we went about constructing the Pale of our dreams. We tweaked malts and hops continuously and eventually came to release a brew known as Gamma Ray. This name came from our Creative Director Nick Dwyer, Who at that time was working on the floor at Duke’s Brew and Que. Nick brought illustrations in every week. It was undeniable, the guy was a force and his imagery resonated deep. We all loved spacemen and lasers – again, simple. So we named the experimental brew Gamma Ray and Nick drew the design - drawing heavily from “mars attacks” and warren ellis graphic novels. Our baby was born. From its release Gamma was perfection for us and joined the Beaver core range. The concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

33cl can purchased @ Nysa Rueil-Malmaison. Belle robe orangée avec grosse mousse abondante. Nez sur les fruits tropicaux. Attaque très fruitée sur le pamplemousse. Petit côté résineux et belle amertume très légère. Un bon jus très agréable et bien équilibré.

Tap @ the Junkyard. It's a sign of my novice status that the Beavertown core range is still new to me. I have begun to detect some hallmarks. Hops yield a tropical nose muted with peach. The pales are seldom clear and have the required minimum white top - a circle rather than a layer of foam. Taste is commonly sweet to sour with a bitter finish. Body is almost always medium and texture hovers over the terms oily and slick like me over a phone keypad. Palate has soft carbonation and yep, the finish is bitter. All good but becoming predictable.

Fantastic hop-forward APA. Great colour and depth in the glass with a strong passion fruit, citrus & wet cut grass aroma. It has a big citrus hoppy taste with the passion fruit giving way to grapefruit & lemon with a long bitter finish balanced just so with cracker malts. A simply gorgeous session ale.

Really good: sour, hoppy, fruity beer. Refreshing and tart. A grapefruity nose. Pretty excellent.

Top!

Can, 33cL. 5.4%. Home. Purchase ("Le Houblon", @Poitiers, FR). Beautiful can ! A golden yellow-orange clear beer with a medium white foamy head ; medium retention ; ok lacing. Fruits+ (orange, tropical fruits), resin, herb. Medium dry bitter refreshing, light spicy, light sweet. Light to medium body, thin texture, average good carbonation, dry fruity bitter finish. Overall, very good ! Fruity, refreshing ; spicy but not harsh.

Nice Pale Ale but I'm marking this on cost compared to worthy Aussie competitors. Probably great back home for 3 quid or whatever but £5.50 a can? Better Aussie Pales at half the price. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
