Believe it or not, we had never brewed a pale ale when we started. But once our experimental Alpha Series was launched around 6 months in, we went about constructing the Pale of our dreams. We tweaked malts and hops continuously and eventually came to release a brew known as Gamma Ray. This name came from our Creative Director Nick Dwyer, Who at that time was working on the floor at Duke’s Brew and Que. Nick brought illustrations in every week. It was undeniable, the guy was a force and his imagery resonated deep. We all loved spacemen and lasers – again, simple. So we named the experimental brew Gamma Ray and Nick drew the design - drawing heavily from “mars attacks” and warren ellis graphic novels. Our baby was born. From its release Gamma was perfection for us and joined the Beaver core range. The concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

A bit tart good American pale type flavour needs to be a bit chilled. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx --- via Beer Buddy for iPhone

ottima, ottima davvero.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2017 Finally got around to trying the excellent Gamma Ray from Beavertown. I can say that it absolutely lives up to its reputation, and I thoroughly enjoyed it as a tasty, mouthwatering pale ale. Pint on draught at Refuge, Manchester.

Nice frothy head and very zesty on the nose. Lovely tropical citrus flavour dancing over a proper robust hoppiness and finishes with a long, slightly bitter, slightly sweet aftertaste. If your a Punk IPA fan then this is a no-brainer. Lovely stuff!

Can. Big white head on a cloudy light orange body. Passion fruit, pale malts, floral notes, grapefruit, resin, orange zest, some grass and very light earthy notes. Light sweetness, followed by medium bitterness. Medium, creamy body with medium carbonation. Would I need to chose a Radiohead song to describe this well balanced APA, it would probably be "Everything in it's right place", although it isn't too heavy on the lemon.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 18B). Can 33 cl - Batch L1738 (BBF 17/02/18). AROMA: medium-high hop aroma with fresh/green notes (lime, grapefruit), with a background of soft and low malty-sweet notes. APPEARANCE: gold color and crystal clear. médium white head with good retention. TASTE: medium hop flavor with green tea-like notes, some citrus. low malt character on the background. medium-high bitterness with an almost dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. faint astringency. OVERALL: a very nice APA, with a bit less flavor than aroma.
