COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION The Bollywood of beers. We wanted to build a recipe which really pushed the love affair between dark malts and hops. So we designed the brew around allowing the hops to sing on top of a dark malt bomb. We aimed to brew an almost dark chocolate-like base beer and then piled on with the tropics of summit and centennial hops, lifting the waves of smooth chocolate off the tongue. We categorise Holy Cowbell as an India stout. India coming from the same meaning behind India pale ale. Basically lots and lots of hops added in their masses at the end of the boil and then in dry hop, to extract maximal hop flavour and aroma!

Keg Third of a Pint at BrewDog, Clerkenwell, London in Jan 2016 - Black in colour. Good tan head. Very Malty; dark chocolate, roasty malts, coffee, some caramel. Hoppy; piney hops. Fruity; orange and grapefruit citrus. Very drinkable. Moderately bitter chocolatey and hoppy beer. For me, its a hoppy stout rather than a BIPA. Whichever, its good. (2016-01-30)

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2017 Mooi zwart bier met crmekleurige schuimkraag. Licht rokerig aroma. Smaken van drop, mout, beetje koffie, chocolade. Licht zoetig van smaak met bittere afdronk. Lekker maar over het algemeen toch te dun, beetje waterig mondgevoel. Craftbeer uit blik blijft toch wennen voor mij...

Aroma: pine and resin, roasted sunflower seeds, citrus. Appearance: black color and creamy head. Taste: medium pine bitterness, citrus notes, roasted dark malts, coffee, dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, roasted-bitter finish. Overall: Really nice Black IPA, nice pine notes and high drinkable.

Can at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Dark brown / black with small head. Roast grains and chocolate on the aroma. Taste gets a bit spicy and zesty, traces of hops. Nice zinger of a finish.

Thin caramel coloured head soon left a cover on a very dark brown still body. Rich chocolate aroma. Medium body, creamy, smooth - tangy on the back. Chocolate, brown sugar, cocoa, & general sweetness to the fore with an aft of of hoppy citrus with orange, tangerine & melon. A very unusual beer. A cross between a Stout/IPA/Porter. Nothing like a Black IPA. Loving it!

Brilliant blend of roasted coffee from the malt and citrus from the hops on the nose. Delicious smooth coffee flavour and reasonable body. Subtle hop character in the taste, the roasted malts dominate. A little more hops in the taste would be preferred for this style, but still a good beer!
