2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Head is initially small, fizzy, white, fully diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), with notes of DMS and soap.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, husky.
Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation.
Pretty much what you’d expect from Beck’s. Soap and DMS and pretty much as strong in the nose as the hops. Crude malt. Overly sweet, husky. Not repulsive, but an industrial, clunky drain pour all the same.
Smooth creamy taste ... complex grainy aroma. Truly a great American brewed pale lager. awtolladay (1) - Porterville, California, USA - FEB 5, 2017 does not count
One of the best new beers to hit the market, very smooth and in a world where everyone seems to love IPAs, this is a nice alternative to the run of the mill offerings at the bar. raymow (1860) - Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2016
bottled - thanks Grant! Blah appearance. Decent, slightly sweet aroma. Smooth and easy drinking - not bad. thedm (6320) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 13, 2016
This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a strongly carbonated transparent yellow colored body and a very good lacing. The aroma was musty and dirty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The semi-thick flavor contained notes of mild hops and dough. Not one that I would drink again. A forgettable beer that gave me gas! muzzlehatch (4974) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 20, 2016
12 ounce bottle from Valli Produce in Rockford, IL, consumed - or whatever part of it I can bear to consume - from a Zywiec glass ice-cold. Pale yellow-gold, moderate head doesn’t fade away instantly but still leaves little trace after a couple of minutes...honey, corn sugar and a hint of musk in the faint, not unpleasant but not exactly delightful nose...body is very sweet, with some hints of bready malt, mostly a corn syrup texture and flavor, a bit of metal or rust at the finish that’s rather unpleasant...syrupy yet watery body, low carbonation doesn’t help matters. I figured this would be bad, but it was in the .99 bin and I have fond memories of Beck’s - my first girlfriend loved German beer (and it was she who really turned me onto beer actually), and in the mid-late 80s in Chicago, your German beer choices at the liquor store or supermarket were basically Beck’s, St. Pauli Girl, DAB and half a dozen others not appreciably better or worse. So once in a while...but it will be a long while now, I think.

12 oz. bottle. Pours golden yellow and incredibly clear, with a small, white foam head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of caramel, bread, and honey. Taste is slightly sweet with a just a hint of bitterness in the finish. There’s really not much in the way of unique flavors to identify. My best interpretation would be that it tastes like a very weak ginger ale that’s only been lightly sweetened. On the tongue, it feels thin with a light body. Overall, it’s drinkable, and that’s about it, as there’s absolutely nothing to get excited about. There’s a reason why the store had these on a buy-one-get-one-free special, and now I know that reason. ADfan (877) - Orange County, California, USA - MAY 15, 2016
In the glass it has golden yellow color with a medium head. Aroma of malt and grain. Taste is pretty straight forward with bitterness, herbs and grain. Not much here. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 12, 2016
Pours a golden yellow. Aromas of grass, malts, and a touch of citrus. Flavor is grainy with a touch of hops. Still better than most american pale lagers. WillemsUrenkel (2086) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - MAY 3, 2016
0,33 l bottle, bought and drunk in Vegas, cause not available on the german market. Is ist so bad? Let´s try it. Clear golden in the glass, small head. Some strange hop elements with flat malt on the nose. Taste is like an average lager with a little bit extra musty malt and some elements of additional hop. Okay, no need to get it in my home area. 12oz bottle - Pours light amber, white head. Honestly, I thought the best thing about this was the weird and unique aroma. Now, I try to evaluate beers honestly, but they end up sounding the same, by style, because basically there are similar characteristics. However, this beer smelled like refrigerated flowers and a whiff of something you might get walking by the perfume/cologne counter at Dillard’s. Flavor was plain ol’ regular pale lager like every other crappy pale lager I’ve ever tasted.
