draught. deep copper-brown body with a large fluffy white head. aroma has soapy hops, caramel, bread, and butterscotch. it’s seems to pretty solid for the style. there’s a somewhat gritty bitterness and soft pretzel malt flavour. above average.

A hazy red beer with a small beige head. The aroma is very permumated and flowery. The flavor is perfumated flowery combined with notes of berries and a dry toffee end.

(RBSG05) Clear amber body topped by a thick off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some orange/floral. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some orange, floral/earthy, light pepper. Light-medium body with a bit of stickiness.

Pours a clear deep copper amber with a nice, lightly-lacing off-white head. Aroma is semi-sweet, toasty and enticing. Body is full and malty (at least for an amber) with a good, crisp bitter finish. This is a very nice, extremely drinkable and enjoyable amber that I wish I could keep in my fridge for occasional refreshment.

rederic (3344) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2005
Bright amber color, with a soft foamy white head, sweet caramel malt, toffee, fruity, toasted grains, spicy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with caramel malt, roasted malty character, fruity, toffee leading toward a malt flavor in a bitter hop finish.

3.5
muzzlehatch (4969) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 22, 2005
Largish sample at the brewpub with the Kuhnhenns, tiggmtl and ClarkVV. Reddish-pink, a blush sunset, unfiltered thick with huge lacing and lasting smallish head...tons of cherry in the nose, licorice and green herbs, wow it’s floral and expressive like very few amber ales I know...cherries, tobacco, oaky and piney logs crackling near a fire in the odd and tingly body, a bit of late grapes...beautiful and definitely a cut above the typical Quebec, or American example.

3.8
ClarkVV (6873) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 8, 2005
On draught at the brewpub, 6/3/2005 with the Kuhnhenns, tiggmtl and Muzzlehatch. Deep orange, copper-amber collor, with a off-white head that recedes to cover. Large amounts of lacing traverse the sides. Flowery to the nose, with cherry and apple blossoms, bits of sweet toffee. Begins spicy for flavor, with hazelnuts, caramel, cherries and some sort of dry spice, perhaps just the yeast or hops? Moderately sweet overall, with a medium body. No alcohol noted and the mouthfeel is soft, tingly and substantial; couldnt ask for more there. Finishes with some clove, bitter orange, bits of wood and earth. Quebecois rousse beers dont have to be boring!

beerbuzzmontreal (3486) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 29, 2005
Pours a copper color with a thin offwhite head. Initriguing aroma of spices, malt and caramel. Interesting flavor of crème brulée with malt and spices, the finish is bitter. Light body, slightly dry texture, soft carbonation.

3.2
TaktikMTL (7975) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 23, 2005
Verre de dégustation à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de caramel. Apparence: Couleur ambrée. Moyen col blanc mousseux. Faible densité des bulles. Large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel. Palette: Corps moyen avec une texture huileuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Arrière goût de caramel. (Rating #159)
